The Individual Sales Assistant is the first point of contact in a high-volume inbound sales and service call center, responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience by promptly identifying needs, resolving inquiries, or directing calls to the appropriate sales representatives. This role handles complex account questions, processes benefit changes, provides accurate product information, fulfills requests, and supports the sales team through lead pre-qualification, appointment setting, and occasional assistance with scheduling, event preparation, and communications-ensuring every interaction is efficient, professional, and customer-focused. This position is eligible to work onsite, hybrid or remote in accordance with our Telecommuting Policy. Applicants must reside in Kansas or Missouri or be willing to relocate as a condition of employment." Compensation $23.58 - $29.40 hourly Non-Exempt 12 • Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas offers excellent competitive compensation with the goal of retaining and growing talented team members. The compensation range for this role is a good faith estimate, it is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid. The range may vary above or below the stated amounts. What you'll do • Answers calls directly from existing and prospective customers promptly, exceeding customer expectations, and meeting regulatory and quality expectations, while offering a differentiated front door experience. • Quickly determine the caller's needs and provide resolution for service requests or warm transfer to the sales team for sales activities • Aim to solve the call by being proactive, patient, empathetic, and understanding. Quickly determine the caller's needs and provide resolutions for service requests or warm transfer to the sales team for sales activities. • Aim to solve the call by being proactive, patient, empathetic, and understanding. • Accurately process benefit change requests, cancellation requests, and requests for information within department timelines. • Identify, pre-qualify, open leads, and warm transfer sales qualified leads to sales representatives or set appointments for callback. • Complete the entire enrollment process when directed by the supervisor or assistant supervisor. • Coordinate sales and retention activities working across divisions to assist the customer. • Handle challenging calls with a solution-oriented approach and know when to involve the assistant supervisor or supervisor. • Conduct outbound calls to enrollees for quality assurance tasks such as verifying and collecting information. • Conduct outbound prospecting calls to set appointments for the sales team. • Field calls using scripted and non-scripted communication techniques. • Required to assist or serve as back up in quality assurance area as needed. • Required to attend staff meetings for continuing job-related education. • Required to perform routine administrative duties • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function as defined by polic • Must comply with and implement corporate information security policies, standards, and guidelines relative to access control • Must support and exhibit the company's values of integrity, dependability, service, growth and progress, and courage. What you need Knowledge/Skills/Abilities • Polished phone demeanor, tone, and etiquette is required. • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem solving with ability to problem solve to resolution. • Be open to continuing improvement through education and coaching. • Ability to flex and change tasks quickly, including interacting with customers while simultaneously documenting information. • Proficient at reciting sales scripts in a natural way • Proficient internet, PC, and Windows skills with the ability to quickly learn and implement software and web-based tools to serve the caller. • Ability to accurately collect data, interpret, and report results. • Ability to understand compliance policies and procedures and to implement and adhere to all required compliance sales and marketing requirements. • Capability to maintain compliance with regulatory agency requirements and established service levels. • Understanding of Kansas Insurance Department, Centers for Medicaid and Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act rules, regulations, and guidelines, preferred. • Detailed knowledge of all product lines offered by individual sales to include all subsidiary companies is preferred. • A thorough knowledge of all individual products to include Medicare Supplement, Medicare Advantage, Part D, Dental, ACA, Life and Secure products is strongly preferred. • Ability to work without assistance in LTS, METS, PEGA, Microsoft suite of programs, CSI, Excel, Windows, EIM, BluECM, and any system developed for the purpose of tracking direct marketing activities is preferred. • Ability to attain and maintain a Kansas Insurance Department License for Life, Accident and Health is required (or ability and willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire into position). • AHIP certification and FFM certification (or ability and willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire into position). Education and Experience • High School diploma or its equivalent is required. • Two years of experience working with customers (phone and/or in person) with the ability to interact one-on-one to understand the customers' needs. • Data entry experience is necessary. • Previous sales experience is preferred. Physical Requirements • Flexible work schedule outside regular business hours is required during busy season, October - March. • Required to respond to a high volume of telephone inquiries from customer prospects each day. • Required to use a PC with multiple monitor screens and telephone in-sync up to 95% of the working day. Required to work in a teamwork environment. • Required to complete multiple deadlines and support multiple job duties and responsibilities daily. • Frequently required to perform job function with time frame restraints while maintaining a positive attitude. Work is diversified in a comfortable working environment, it may, however, involve working with less than pleasant customers.
