Job Title: Public Safety Answering Point - SME
Location: New York State candidates only – Remote.
Long term Contractual.
State Client: Will be disclosed during the first introductory call.
Part Time: Approximately 20 hours per week but the actual number of hours may vary.
Available both on W2 and C2C.
Please note,
• Candidate should plan for at least three trips to Norwich, NY in Chenango County during the project.
Travel:
• Occasional travel will be required to complete project work.
• It is possible that overnight stays may be required.
• Travel expenses will be paid by the client via expense invoice.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct design work for public safety telecommunications systems, specifically for next generation 911 systems for public safety.
• Coordinate public safety communications needs assessments, including requirements gathering from first responders and State clients, and analysis of design options.
• Create public safety requirements-based specifications and incorporate into procurement documents to acquire equipment and services.
• Manage the site-specific requirements gathering and approval process, perform quality assurance including PSAP locations.
• Develop project scope, roles, responsibilities, and detailed implementation plans.
• Conceptualize the initial design approach and/or have overall responsibility for the engineering work to include the specifications and design, project scope, and detailed project plans for dispatch and remote communications facilities.
• Provide leadership and strategic implementation support for complex 911 systems.
• Lead and participate in the development of reports, analyses, and presentations.
• Remain current on industry, policy, funding, and legislative changes related to 911, and assess the impact to clients.
• Share technical knowledge and expertise with peers—exchange ideas, concepts, and processes that create a strong team approach to problem solving and client solutions.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced practical experience in IP-based and wireless technologies in the public safety environment.
• Advanced practical experience in the application of technical standards to actual product features and functions.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local agency activities related to public safety dispatch operations and 911 call taking.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
