Job Overview

As a remote customer service representative at blithequark, you will play a vital role in communicating with borrowers regarding their federal student loan programs. Your primary responsibilities will include responding to inbound calls, making outbound calls, and providing top-notch customer service to resolve customer inquiries, take loan payments, and offer repayment options. You will be trained to counsel and inform borrowers about their repayment options, deferments, and forbearance eligibility, ensuring that they receive the support and guidance they need to manage their student loan debt effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to incoming borrower calls, chats, and make outbound calls in a friendly and professional manner, ensuring that all interactions are handled with empathy and understanding.
  • Counsel and inform borrowers about their repayment options, deferments, and forbearance eligibility, taking payments and updating borrower accounts in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Locate needed information quickly and minimize the time borrowers are put on hold, ensuring that all customer interactions are handled promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain the security and privacy of borrower information, protecting both the borrower and our partners, and adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Work an 8-hour shift with a one-hour lunch and two 15-minute breaks, managing your time effectively to ensure that all tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills, including the ability to type while talking and navigate multiple software systems with ease.

Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a combination of education, skills, and personal qualities that enable you to provide exceptional customer service and support to our borrowers. The following qualifications and requirements are essential:

Essential Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with some college or a bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment cognitive and personality assessment, demonstrating your aptitude for customer service and your ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Federal 5C Security Clearance and credit check, ensuring that you meet the necessary security requirements for this role.
  • Must live in or near the Dallas-Fort Worth area, with a reliable internet connection and a dedicated workspace that is free from noise and distractions.
  • Excellent organization, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to multitask and type while talking.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in customer service, preferably in a remote or call center environment.
  • Knowledge of federal student loan programs and repayment options, with the ability to learn and adapt quickly to new information and systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
