Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Remote Data Engineer to join our team at blithequark. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining our financial data platforms, ensuring that they are scalable, efficient, and secure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements, develop data models, and implement ETL pipelines that meet the needs of our stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data warehouses and BI tools for blithequark's financial data platforms
  • Develop and implement ETL pipelines, data models, and reporting solutions that meet business requirements
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business needs and develop data-driven solutions
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Optimize software and query performance using profiling tools and SQL
  • Analyze and resolve issues at their root, stepping back to understand the wider context
  • Stay up-to-date with advances in big data technology and run pilots to lay out the data architecture to scale with increased data volume using cloud-based technologies
  • Continuously improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for datasets

Essential Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on big data analytics and cloud application development
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud-based technologies such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
  • Excellent business and communication skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders to develop and define key business questions and build data sets that solve those questions
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop insights that drive business decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
  • Experience with data engineering tools such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, or Apache Flink
  • Knowledge of machine learning algorithms and experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and version control systems such as Git
  • Strong understanding of data governance and data quality principles
