Ordinary Seaman (Offshore)

<em><strong>Ordinary Seaman (OS)</strong> <br><br></em><strong>Job Description<br><br></strong>The Ordinary Seaman (OS) co-ordinates with other Seamen, the Bosun, Crane Operators or any other person necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.<br><br><strong>Primary Duties / Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li> General vessel maintenance, including safe handling of tools and equipment for surface preparation and the application of paints and solvents. </li><li> Assisting in machinery spaces as required. </li><li> Maintenance of emergency equipment and assisting in the maintenance of lifesaving and firefighting equipment as directed by the Chief Officer. </li><li> Assisting in the launch, recovery and routine daily maintenance of rescue craft. </li><li> Undertaking duties of Helideck Attendant as directed. </li><li> Assisting in all matters related to marine operations, including Watchkeeping duties as required. </li><li> Assisting the Operations Department if requested to do so by the Chief Officer. </li><li> Performing emergency duties in accordance with the vessel's Muster List / Station Bill. </li><li> Ensuring that daily activities are carried out in a safe and healthy manner and that the impact of such activities on the environment is within acceptable limits. </li><li> Complete other duties and/or projects as required and assigned by management. <br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><em> Education / Training: </em> Qualification requirements are contained in the Vessel Qualifications and Training Matrix appropriate to each vessel. Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) and TWIC are required for this position.<br><br><em> Skills: </em> Able to speak and understand English. Able to work as a team member.<br><br><strong>Special Requirements<br><br></strong><ul><li> Additional requirements are contained in the Vessel Qualifications and Training Matrix appropriate to each vessel. </li><li> The OS has the authority to stop ANY activity on the grounds of immediate safety, health and environmental hazards. <br><br></li></ul><em> Decision Making: </em> The Ordinary Seaman co-ordinates with other Seamen, the Bosun, Crane Operators or any other person necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel.<br><br><em> Helix Energy Solutions Group is an equal opportunity employer.</em>
