This is responsible work involving the protection of life through the performance of emergency medical services, providing basic and advanced life support to patients at the reputed company of emergencies and while transporting reputed company and injured patients to medical care facilities. An employee in this class is responsible for working as an emergency medical team member who may reputed company personnel at an emergency reputed company and directly reports to the Paramedic Supervisor.
This is a "mandatory-testing position" that requires Drug Testing
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Operates an emergency medical vehicle in non-emergency and emergency situations including to and from emergency reputed company, determining most efficient reputed company and maintaining situational awareness in order to prevent accidents
Identifies and manages life threatening emergencies by initiating basic and advanced life support while following protocols and physician orders
Initiates and assists Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians in patient treatment to acutely ill or traumatized patients both on the reputed company and while in reputed company to the hospital, utilizing both invasive and non-invasive techniques and initial protocol treatment based on patient condition, which may include implementing automated external defibrillator, performing basic airway management, reputed company pressure ventilation, cardiac resuscitation, cardiac monitoring, intravenous therapy, and pharmacological therapy
Establishes rapport with the patient and others to decrease incident stress by remaining reputed company and communicating medical conditions with patients, family members, and applicable medical staff
Prepares patient care reports, which involves documenting medical conditions and activities reputed company to patients and using a personal computer
Records patient care data and information obtaining demographic data from patients, medical conditions and/or illnesses, and reputed company prescription use as reputed company as documents patient reactions to treatment
Monitors and maintains ambulance reputed company for readiness, ensuring required equipment and reputed company medical inventory are available and reputed company for use and that the vehicle is clean and disinfected
Coordinates efforts with other staff and those of other agencies to maximize the efficiency of patient care by maintaining contact with and communicating with reputed company personnel and/or patient receiving facilities, utilizing applicable communication equipment
Secures and disposes of biohazard waste
Assists in the management of controlled substances
Assess patient response to treatment and, in consultation with medical control, alters treatment accordingly
May exercise independent judgment in the application of specific official medical protocol established by the medical control physicians
Attends continuing education and other programs to maintain clinical knowledge and certification requirements

TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Training and Experience:
High school diploma or the successful completion of the General Educational Development (GED) test, and completion of emergency medical coursework at the Paramedic level; or a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements
Licenses and Certifications:

Must obtain EVOC certification during orientation process
Must be certified by the Escambia County Medical Director upon employment and must maintain certification as a condition of employment
