Discussion Partner/Mentor/Counselor on The Topic of Surrogacy for Prospective LGBTQ Parent

Looking for a thoughtful and empathetic discussion partner or counselor to provide space for open conversations around the surrogacy journey. The focus is on supporting a gay man preparing to pursue surrogacy, with an emphasis on the emotional, logistical, and long-term realities of becoming a parent through this process. The intent is not medical or legal advice, but meaningful dialogue: exploring what to expect, how the journey may feel, and how to prepare for the future both as a parent and for the child. Responsibilities: • Create a supportive environment for discussions about the surrogacy process, including expectations, uncertainties, and personal reflections. • Share insights from prior work with LGBTQ individuals and couples who have become parents through surrogacy. • Explore possible future dynamics, such as how a child might process their origins and how parents can prepare for those conversations with love and clarity. • Offer perspective on raising a child as a single LGBTQ parent, including navigating societal challenges and fostering resilience. • Discuss the ethical, emotional, and financial considerations of surrogacy in a practical yet compassionate way. • (Preferred but not required) Bring experience with families who pursued surrogacy abroad and navigated the transition of bringing their newborns into the U.S. Ideal Qualifications: • Professional or personal background in counseling, coaching, or supporting individuals/couples through surrogacy. • Direct experience working with LGBTQ individuals or couples, particularly gay men or same-sex couples. • Familiarity with the unique cultural, emotional, and practical dimensions of LGBTQ parenting. • Comfortable holding space for sensitive and complex conversations without judgment. • (Bonus) Experience supporting children born through surrogacy or their families.
