DESCRIPTION/FUNCTION :
• Leads an assigned portfolio through architecting and designing comprehensive solutions to meet product needs.
• Works collaboratively with senior leadership to create solutions that align to architecture standards and principles, leveraging common solutions and services, while meeting financial targets.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Establish technology vision, provide guidance and direction on the design, building, testing and deployment of technology solutions and designs.
• Provide oversight and collaborate with domain leadership and enterprise architects to lead business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state) and determine corresponding solution designs.
• Lead the creation of enterprise standards and evaluate the quality and compliance of delivered solutions to ensure alignment with those standards.
• Produce, enhance, and refine conceptual, logical and physical solution architecture for strategic initiatives that align with Enterprise Architecture principles and vision.
• Advise and collaborate with stakeholders on strategic initiatives and participate in cross-team Agile ceremonies and senior leadership forums.
• Apply cybersecurity, technology, and risk principles and standards to ensure proposed solutions are compliant.
• Actively participate, support and shape governance activities and the formation of enterprise standards.
• Objectively evaluate and lead the resolution of domain specific architecture problems in partnership with domain subject matter experts.
• Partner with other enterprise and solution architects that manage and design architecture for dependent products.
• Mentor less experienced architects working on technical solutions and lead cross-project technical issues and resolution.
• Harness existing technology resources through collaboration to benefit solutioning efforts.
• Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
• Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
• Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
• Complete other related duties as assigned.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
• Be a trusted technology partner and advisor to stakeholders on strategic initiatives and participate in cross-team Agile ceremonies and senior leadership forums.
• Be a visionary and a thought leader for the enterprise regarding emerging technologies and trends to determine their benefit on a technology domain.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree and 9 years of relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 year's higher education and/or relevant work experience
• Experience collaborating, communicating and presenting to executive level stakeholders
• Strong experience in software or service engineering and delivery
• Strong knowledge of new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies for strategic use
• Experience in solution architecture with the ability to articulate designs at an enterprise/visionary level
• Expert experience as a software practitioner, developing software and applications
• Expert experience with multiple programming languages
• Strong experience in building solution architecture design that meets policies and standards
• Experience with designing, developing and integrating applications with relevant software architecture principles and patterns
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:
• Graduate degree in technical discipline
• Experience in delivery and architecture organizations driving the strategy and vision
• Experience in delivering technology or conference-level presentations
• Experience working Agile environment
• Industry recognized certification in programming languages and/ or cloud technologies
• Industry recognized certification in technology and architecture domains will be an added plus
• Experience working in the financial services industry
