Role Description
The Vice President, Compliance Officer is a mission-driven and business-minded executive who sets the vision, strategy, and direction for Compliance & Ethics across the organization. This leader ensures Vibrant’s operations and programs are conducted in full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards—while advancing a culture of integrity, transparency, and accountability.
• Serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, advising the CEO, Board, and executives on compliance, ethics, and risk matters.
• Lead the design and execution of Vibrant’s enterprise Compliance Program, ensuring alignment with HHS and DOJ guidelines and integration into the organization’s enterprise risk framework.
• Oversee compliance across clinical, financial, privacy, technology, and operational domains, including HIPAA, COPPA, fraud and abuse prevention, data governance, and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200).
• Build and lead a high-performing Compliance Team that fosters collaboration, accountability, and organizational learning.
• Partner with the CFO, General Counsel, and other leaders to ensure regulatory adherence and effective risk mitigation.
• Develop and implement annual compliance and audit plans; monitor performance through key metrics and regular reporting to the CEO, ELT, and Board.
• Lead internal investigations and ensure appropriate reporting, remediation, and documentation of findings.
• Maintain and promote systems for confidential reporting, whistleblower protections, and ethics education across the organization.
• Serve as primary liaison with regulators, funders, and accreditation bodies (e.g., SAMHSA, HHS/OIG, DOHMH), ensuring audit readiness and issue resolution.
• Drive continuous improvement and alignment of compliance activities with Vibrant’s mission, values, and commitment to equity and inclusion.

• Expert understanding of federal and state regulations governing non-profits, healthcare, and behavioral health.
• Demonstrated success creating and sustaining compliance and risk management programs that are both rigorous and practical in service of mission goals.
• Strong ability to distill complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable business practices that advance organizational integrity.
• Familiarity with CARF, Joint Commission, and state mental hygiene laws governing behavioral health.
Requirements
• 15+ years of progressive experience in compliance, ethics, and/or risk management, preferably in healthcare or behavioral health organizations.
• 5–7 years in a senior leadership or executive role leading compliance functions.
• Proven experience advising Boards, CEOs, and executive teams on compliance and ethics matters.
• Deep familiarity with accreditation and quality standards relevant to behavioral health and social services.
• Experience overseeing compliance for federally funded subrecipients or grantees strongly preferred.
• Advanced degree in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business, or related field preferred.
• Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), or equivalent credential preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time.
• Will involve attending events that take place outside of the company's main office, such as conferences, trade shows, or client meetings.
• Will frequently communicate over video calls with internal and external stakeholders as well as team members.
• Will constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
