Freelance B2B Writer – Governance, Sustainability & ESG

Compose.ly is looking for experienced freelance writers to produce B2B content on corporate governance, board technology, and sustainability/ESG reporting frameworks. Our ideal candidates can translate complex regulatory and governance topics into clear, authoritative articles for executive-level audiences. You’ll write content that helps corporate directors, general counsel, and senior leaders understand how evolving regulations and digital tools shape the modern boardroom. Objectives of this role This is a freelance position. You’ll select projects from a list of assignments commissioned by our client. Assignments will typically focus on ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD, GRI, ISSB, TCFD, CDP), digital transformation for boards, board portals, AI in governance, cybersecurity oversight, and other board-level concerns. This role is for you if you… • Have written for B2B clients or trade publications in areas like corporate governance, compliance, ESG, or enterprise SaaS • Can distill dense regulatory or technical material into clean, digestible explanations for senior leaders • Are conversant in governance language and comfortable researching and summarizing frameworks without misrepresentation • Know how to frame trends using authoritative sources (e.g., McKinsey, Harvard Business Review, World Economic Forum) • Can integrate product positioning in a subtle, credibility-driven way rather than sales copy • Are comfortable writing for executive-level audiences rather than consumers • Are reliable, detail-oriented, and collaborative with editors Responsibilities • Craft professional content — blog posts, thought-leadership articles, and related formats — that address board governance, technology adoption, and ESG reporting • Ensure content is accurate, engaging, aligned with SEO best practices, and follows project guidelines • Revise content as requested based on editorial or client feedback • Organize and track your assignments to meet deadlines Skills and qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or higher • 3+ years of experience writing in business, governance, sustainability, compliance, or enterprise technology • Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks such as GRI, ISSB, CSRD, TCFD, or CDP preferred • Experience writing for a professional, executive-level audience • Proficiency in English and strong self-editing skills • Knowledge of SEO in content creation and current SEO best practices Apply tot his job Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
