Position Summary
We are looking for a Certified Special Education Teacher (Virtual; Remote) for Spring semester of the 2025-2026 school year. The anticipated start date is early January 2026. In this role, you will deliver personalized and engaging instruction and support to Special Education students. You will manage a caseload of students by monitoring data, writing IEPs, and scheduling and facilitating meetings. You’ll make connections with students and parents daily using chat, email, text messages, and phone calls. If you like the idea of proactively reaching out to students and families every day, this is a great opportunity for you.
You will also provide personalized feedback to students via grading assignments and recording personalized video feedback. You may spend time supplementing our system curriculum by developing and/or delivering quality live and recorded lessons as determined in collaboration with your supervisor. You’ll leverage your knowledge, your skills as an educator, and your mastery of Google Apps for Education, learning management systems, and modern communication tools to drive personalized learning experiences that yield strong academic results.
This position is a 12-month, year-round position with paid time off and paid sick leave. We offer a slate of more than ten paid company holidays plus an additional period of time off to rest and reflect over the winter holidays.
Job Duties
• Serve all stakeholders with integrity, humility, and joy while consistently modeling the importance of both task competency and relationships;
• Participate in Company events, activities, and meetings with a smile and an infectious, great attitude;
• Effectively support Special Education students by implementing lesson plans, delivering engaging and insightful lessons, and ensuring student learning of established curriculum using company tools;
• Evaluate student needs and prior written history to determine and help implement appropriate accommodations;
• Ensure Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) are properly documented and implemented;
• Demonstrate ownership and alignment with company quality standards when working with students, parents, colleagues, or others;
• Maintain a courteous and positive demeanor in every interaction when responding to a wide range of inquiries from students, guardians, and colleagues;
• Provide ongoing monitoring of student progress intervening as needed to address gaps and deliver remediation;
• Collaborate with peers and administrators in a professional, positive, and student-focused manner;
• Provide essential proctoring services during periods of student testing including traveling to testing locations, setting up student testing materials, completing assessment training, and facilitating the test; and
• All other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Strong interpersonal skills with the demonstrated ability to consistently lead and serve others with humility, kindness, empathy, and joy;
• Demonstrated ability to establish rapport, gain commitment, and convey challenging concepts to learners using a broad spectrum of technological tools and tactics;
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of IEPs, how to write effective IEPs, and hold collaborative IEP meetings;
• Highly skilled in engaging unresponsive, struggling students;
• Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently, collaborate with others, and effectively build relationships with students, families, and colleagues;
• Ability to quickly learn, use, and adapt to new technology and systems;
• Ability to travel to physically proctor student assessments; and
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required; Master’s degree in Special Education preferred;
• Ability to obtain Special Education licenses (or approved equivalent) in Arizona, Colorado, and Washington required; active Special Education licenses in Arizona, Colorado, and Washington preferred;
• Teacher certification and completion of an approved teacher preparation program required;
• Minimum of three (3) years of Special Education teaching experience required, including experience writing and implementing effective IEPs and holding IEP meetings;
• Minimum of two (2) years of online teaching experience required;
• Experience utilizing SPED/IEP related software programs (e.g., eIEPPro, Frontline, Enrich) required;
• Strong experience with Mac OS, Google Workspace, and Asana preferred;
• Private, distraction-free, professional remote work environment with high-speed internet;
• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in EL required;
• Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (or equivalent) License;
• Prior EL brick and mortar or virtual school experience required;
• Sheltered Observation Instruction Protocol (SIOP) training;
• Ability to obtain teaching certifications in Arizona, Colorado, and Washington;
• Bilingual - English/Spanish preferred;
• Strong experience with Mac OS, Google Workspace, and Asana preferred;
• Private, distraction-free, professional remote work environment with high-speed internet;
• Ability to adequately meet legal requirements for performing this position;
• Ability to pass required background checks; and
• Ability and willingness to travel to assigned testing locations and physically proctor student assessments.
