Benefits and Compensation Coordinator
Steptoe LLP is looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Benefits and Compensation Coordinator to join their Total Rewards team. In this role, you’ll support key HR functions including leave administration, wellness programming, compensation support, and retirement plan operations, ensuring a smooth experience for employees and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Support leave programs (FMLA, disability, etc.) and assist employees with documentation and return-to-work coordination
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliant and efficient leave processes
- Conduct benefits orientations and respond to employee questions on health and retirement plans
- Assist with benefits enrollments, changes, and vendor issue resolution
- Contribute to compensation activities including salary surveys and market pricing
- Coordinate logistics and communications for wellness programs and events
- Support 401(k) operations, including contributions, reporting, and vendor coordination
Skills
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in HR or a related field
- 1-2 years in a role in HR, benefits, or compensation
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for basic data tracking and reporting (e.g., sorting, filtering, simple formulas)
- Clear, professional communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and discretion
- Working knowledge of benefits regulations (ERISA, FMLA, ADA, etc.)
- A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
- Comfort working independently and collaboratively across teams
