<p><strong>Working Title:</strong> Assistant / Associate Professor of Computer Science - 2493</p> <p><strong>Min T/E Requirements</strong></p><span>The ideal candidate must have an earned Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related field by December 31, 2015, experience in teaching or industry, research interests, and relevant on-going or planned publications. Expertise in one or more CS and IT areas (web technology, software engineering, operating systems, mobile computing, 3-D printing, or game programming for example) would add to the candidate's attractiveness.</span><p><strong>Recruitment Range</strong></p>Commensurate with Education and Experience<p><strong>Anticipated Hiring Range</strong></p>Commensurate with Education and Experience<p><strong>Position #:</strong> 2493</p> <p><strong>Is this a grant funded position?</strong></p>No<p><strong>If yes, please indicate the end date of the grant.(if applicable)</strong></p><span>N/A</span><p><strong>Primary Purpose of Position</strong></p><span>Teaching courses in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, and Information Technology; advising students; and contributing to departmental and university service activities.</span><p><strong>Job Description</strong></p><span>The candidate will be expected to effectively teach a variety of IT, Cybersecurity, and Computer Science courses, advise and mentor students, and engage in scholarship and professional service.</span><br><br><span>The candidate will teach a range of courses from introductory to advanced levels. Possible courses include Object-Oriented Programming, Operating Systems, Digital Logic, Data Structures, Programming Language Concepts, Theory of Computation, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Networks & Security, Computer Architecture, System Integration, System Assurance, Video Game Development, and Database Management.</span><br><br><span>Candidates must demonstrate the ability to design course materials aligned with CAE-CD and ABET accreditation standards, participate actively in learning outcomes assessment, and contribute to organizing activities for student clubs.<br><br>The ideal candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field by <strong>December 31, 2025</strong>, with at least <strong>18 graduate credit hours</strong> in the listed disciplines.</span><br><br><span>Candidates who are ABD may be appointed at the instructor rank and salary, with the possibility of promotion to Assistant Professor upon successful completion of the Ph.D. Such candidates will be expected to complete the Ph.D. within one year of their official start date at UNC Pembroke.</span><br><br><span>Salary and academic rank are commensurate with education and directly related experience.</span><br><br><span>To be considered for the Associate Professor position, the candidate must:</span><ul><li>The ideal candidate will have at least five years of full-time teaching experience at the Assistant Professor level in an accredited higher education institution, preferably in the United States.</li><li>Demonstrate a record of scholarly publications in reputable conferences and/or journals.</li><li>Provide evidence of successful grant applications or funded research.</li><li>Show leadership in curriculum development, accreditation processes, or program coordination.</li><li>Demonstrate a sustained record of service at the departmental, university, and/or professional level.</li><li>Exhibit a strong commitment to mentoring students, particularly in research, internships, or professional development.</li></ul><span><strong>Application Procedure:</strong><br>The review of applications will begin on <strong>October 20, 2025</strong>, and will continue until the position is filled.
