Documentary Impact Strategist
Pay Rate / Duration: Part-time role, $2,500-3,000/month depending on experience for approx. 10-15 hours/week, for approx. 2 months. Please note that our budget is grant-based in the current stage of our project.

About the Film: Our Subscription to Addiction is a grant-funded, independent short documentary capturing a young filmmaker’s experience hitting rock bottom down the YouTube rabbithole and her discovery of a youth-led digital wellbeing movement. This by-youth-for-youth film has a mission to inspire young people to reflect on their relationship with their phone and recognize the power of their expertise in leading the solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
We’re looking for someone to join our project as a part time consultant to develop the impact campaign strategy for this film. At the end of the consultation, we can re-evaluate and see if this role continues on as the Impact Producer bringing this campaign to life, or whether this role helps us bring on the right Impact Producer to execute the strategy created during this consultation.
• Develop and execute an impact campaign strategy engaging youth ages 10–19, alongside parents, educators, and responsible tech stakeholders.
• Refine audience targeting to maximize relevance and reach.
• Create a targeted film festival strategy aligned with impact goals.
• Ideate strategies surrounding the film’s premiere, community and partner screenings, and panel discussions.
• Work with the Director to manage and build strategic partnerships.
• Facilitate conversations with distributors and impact partners.
• Meet with the Film / Impact Director once a week for regular progress updates and align on next steps, with the flexibility for more frequent meetings as needed.
• Draft an impact campaign budget and timeline, ensuring the strategy would be feasible within our current funding, while helping determine fundraising needs. Invoice our fiscal sponsor to retrieve funds as needed.
• Anticipate potential issues, and be responsive and proactive to solve them.
What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience as an Impact Producer on short and/or feature-length, indie social impact documentaries.
• Strong project management skills, communicating expectations with all team members in advance, holding them accountable to deadlines, and ensuring they feel supported.
• Highly organized, with a strong knack for creating highly functional and visually aesthetic workflows and can stay on top of the project to hold all team members accountable.
• Dependable and proactive communicator available during 9 am - 5 pm on weekdays, open to meet when issues arise, responds promptly, and provides advance notice if deadlines shift.
• Experience managing documentary budgets and timelines, including fundraising-related adjustments.
• Experience working with distributors, designers, web developers, publicists, and impact vendors.
• Keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and integrity in documentary impact campaign creation.
• Passion for responsible technology and digital well-being.
