Data Ventures, similar to a nimble startup incubated within arenaflex, is building the industry-leading suite of data products to provide actionable, customer-centric insights and help traders and suppliers make better business decisions on omni-channel 360 performance. **Job Responsibilities** As a Staff Data Scientist in our Data Ventures team, you will work as the tech lead for all data science-related work. This role will frequently focus on Customer Data Science initiatives, which may be long-term or short-term based on need. This role is expected to mentor junior colleagues and implement best practices throughout the team. **Key Responsibilities:** * **Data Source Identification:** + Understand the concerned order of requirements and service level agreements. + Define and identify the most appropriate reasserts for required data that is fit for purpose, regarding external assets as required. Perform preliminary data quality tests on the extracted data. + Review the deliverables of junior colleagues and provide guidance. * **Problem Formulation:** + Analyze the business problem within one's domain and question assumptions to help the business perceive the root cause. + Identify and recommend methods to solve the business problem. Set data analytics, big data analytics, automation goals, and deliverables based on the setup achievement standards and outline key metrics to measure progress and effectiveness of the solution. + Quantify business impact. * **Analytical Modeling:** + Select suitable modeling strategies for complex problems with large-scale, multiple established and unstructured data sets. + Select and develop variables and functions iteratively based on model responses in collaboration with the business. + Conduct exploratory data analysis activities (e.g., basic statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, statistical inferences) on to-be-had data. + Identify dimensions and designs of experiments and create test and research frameworks. Interpret data to perceive trends to move across future data sets. + Create continuous, online versions learning including iterative model enhancements. + Develop newer strategies (e.g., advanced machine learning algorithms, vehicle mobile ML) through leveraging the latest developments in machine learning, artificial intelligence to teach algorithms to use models to new data sets. + Guide the team on function engineering, experimentation, and advanced modeling strategies for use for complex problems with unstructured and multiple data sets (e.g., streaming data, raw text data). * **Model Deployment & Scaling:** + Ability to work with MLOps to push ML models to production. + Continuously log and track model behavior once it's deployed against the described metrics. + Identify model parameters which may need adjustments based on the scale of deployment. * **Code Development & Testing:** + Write code to develop the specified solution and application capabilities by identifying the right programming language and leveraging business, technical, and data requirements. + Create test cases to study and validate the proposed solution design. + Create proofs of concept. + Test the code using the right testing method. + Contribute code documentation, maintain playbooks, and provide timely development updates. * **Applied Business Acumen:** + Evaluate proposed business cases for projects and initiatives. + Influence business stakeholder decision-making. + Translate business requirements into strategies, projects, and initiatives and align them to business method and goals and drive the execution of deliverables. + Build and articulate the business case and go back on investment and grants work that has demonstrable value. + Challenge business assumptions on subjects related to one's area of expertise. + Develop new organization-wide approaches and practices to working. + Teach and train others on best practices. + Proactively engage in the external network to build arenaflex's brand and research more about business practices. * **Model Assessment & Validation:** + Identify and review model assessment metrics based on analytical requirements. + Apply appropriate strategies for model testing and tuning, to evaluate accuracy, fit, validity, and robustness. + Ensure testing data is documented and maintained by the team. * **Data Visualization and Storyteller:** + Identify and recommend the most appropriate visualization tools based on context. + Generate suitable graphical representations of data and model outcomes. + Understand customer requirements to design suitable data representation for complex data sets and drive User Experience designers and User Interface engineers to build the front-end applications. + Define application layout based on customer requirements. + Build compelling stories based on context to combine multiple pieces of data into cohesive insights. + Present to and impact various audiences using the right frameworks and convey clear messages through deep business and stakeholder knowledge. + Customize communication style based on stakeholders and leverage relationships to drive behavioral change. + Guide and mentor junior colleagues on story types, structures, and strategies based on context. **What You'll Bring:** * Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 4 years experience in an analytics-related field. * Deep knowledge and understanding of machine learning, statistics, data science in general. * Strong programming skill in at least one of Python/R. * Ability to execute projects end-to-end including junior colleagues. * Implement best practices in ML Ops, coding standards, etc. * Clearly communicate with business, product, and application partners. * Ability to translate complex algorithm evaluations in simple language. * Ability to present to management along with external clients. **What We Offer:** * Multiple health plan options, including vision & dental plans for you & dependents. * Financial benefits including 401(k), stock buy plans, life insurance and more. * Associate discounts in-store and online. * Education assistance for Associates and dependents. * Parental Leave. * Pay during military service. * Paid Time off - including vacation, sick, parental. * Short-term and long-term disability for when you cannot work due to injury, illness, or childbirth. **Join arenaflex Today!** If you're passionate about data science and want to make a meaningful impact on the retail industry, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
