As Stealth modernizes its technology stack, scales its digital platforms, and accelerates innovation, we are seeking a visionary Vice President of Engineering to lead the engineering organization through a period of transformation, growth, and operational excellence. Role Overview The Vice President of Engineering is a senior technology leader reporting directly to the CTO and serving as the CTO’s primary delegate. This role owns end-to-end engineering execution, architecture, and operational excellence across all platforms and products, including: • Shopify Plus (core commerce platform) • Cloud infrastructure (AWS + Azure) • Enterprise data systems (SQL Server + Snowflake) • Retail store integrations • Fulfillment and supply chain systems • Business intelligence and analytics This leader is deeply technical, hands-on when required, and oversees a large, distributed engineering organization. They partner closely with Product, Digital, Operations, Finance, and IT Security to ensure technology is a core competitive advantage. This position carries broad decision-making authority and accountability for engineering outcomes including delivery, reliability, security, scalability, and cost discipline. You will lead the modernization of legacy systems, accelerate cloud adoption, and build a high-performing engineering culture that prioritizes speed, quality, reliability, and customer impact. Key ResponsibilitiesTechnology Strategy & Leadership • Define and execute a multi-year engineering and technology roadmap aligned with business goals • Lead cloud transformation initiatives across AWS, GCP, and Azure • Modernize legacy retail and enterprise systems while ensuring business continuity • Establish engineering best practices, governance, security standards, and architecture principles • Drive innovation in e-commerce, data, personalization, and retail technology Commerce & Shopify Leadership • Own and scale Stealth’s Shopify Plus ecosystem, including: • Storefront performance and reliability • Checkout experience • Integration with OMS, ERP, and fulfillment systems • Inventory synchronization across stores and online • Lead technical strategy for: • Shopify APIs and webhooks • Headless commerce architecture (preferred) • Third-party app ecosystem • Ensure Shopify is secure, scalable, and capable of handling peak traffic (seasonality, promotions, holidays) Cloud & Platform Engineering • Oversee cloud strategy across: • AWS for hosting, integrations, and data pipelines • Azure for enterprise workloads and hybrid architecture • Implement DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices • Optimize cloud performance, reliability, and cost efficiency • Lead migration initiatives from on-premise systems to cloud-native environments Data, Analytics & Snowflake Leadership • Own the modern data stack centered around Snowflake as the analytics backbone • Build Snowflake as the single source of truth for: • Sales • Inventory • Customer behavior • Marketing performance • Finance and reporting • Design data ingestion pipelines from: • Shopify • Azure SQL Server • AWS systems • ERP, OMS, and fulfillment platforms • Enable self-service analytics for business teams using BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or Looker) • Implement strong data governance, security, and cost optimization practices Enterprise Systems & SQL Server • Oversee SQL Server as the core transactional data layer for: • Orders • Inventory • Customers • Store operations • Ensure real-time or near-real-time data synchronization between: • Shopify • SQL Server • Snowflake • Improve data reliability, accuracy, and availability across the enterprise Team Leadership & Culture • Lead, mentor, and scale a distributed engineering organization • Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and innovation • Recruit top engineering leaders in: • Cloud engineering • Commerce engineering • Data engineering • Platform engineering • Define clear OKRs and performance metrics for engineering teams Cross-Functional Partnership • Partner closely with: • Product Management • Digital Commerce • Store Operations • Marketing • Finance • IT Security • Work with external vendors, system integrators, and technology partners Required Technical ExpertiseCommerce (Required) • Shopify Plus • Experience leading large-scale Shopify environments • Deep understanding of Shopify APIs and webhooks • Experience with headless commerce architectures • Strong experience integrating Shopify with: • OMS • ERP • Inventory systems • Fulfillment and logistics platforms Cloud Platforms (Required) • AWS • EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudFront, API Gateway • Event-driven architectures • Data pipelines feeding into Snowflake • Microsoft Azure • Azure App Services • Azure SQL Server • Azure Data Factory or equivalent ETL tools • Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines Data & Analytics (Required) • SQL Server • Core enterprise data systems • Real-time retail data synchronization • Snowflake • Modern data warehouse design • Data modeling and governance • BI integrations (Power BI, Tableau, Looker) • Cost optimization and performance tuning QualificationsMust-Have • 12+ years of engineering experience • 5+ years leading large engineering organizations • Prior experience as: • VP of Engineering • Head of Engineering • Senior Engineering Director • Proven experience leading cloud transformations • Experience modernizing legacy retail or enterprise systems • Experience managing large engineering budgets and teams Preferred • Retail or fashion industry experience • Experience with private-equity-backed companies • Experience in high-growth digital transformation environments • Omnichannel retail experience (stores + e-commerce) Leadership Profile We are looking for a leader who is: • Strategic but execution-driven • Technically deep but business-minded • Able to operate at both strategic and tactical levels • Highly collaborative across functions • Calm and effective under pressure • Results-oriented • Customer-focused • A strong change leader Job Type: Full-time Pay: $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year Work Location: Remote Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
