Senior / Expert Data Engineer (Part-Time, Contract) – GCP Data Warehouse Support

We’re seeking an experienced, self-directed data engineer to support ongoing and ad-hoc work in our Google Cloud–hosted data warehouse. This is a part-time, hourly contract role with a flexible workload that varies by project. You’ll largely work independently, owning data ingestion and transformation projects end to end. You’ll collaborate as needed with an external data warehouse vendor (responsible for overall maintenance) and internal analytics stakeholders who rely on clean, reliable data. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys autonomy, variety, and moving projects forward efficiently. What You’ll Do - Implement new data sources into the data warehouse, including Fivetran connectors, static file imports (e.g., CSVs), and custom API integrations - Transform data using SQL and Python - Build and maintain analytics-ready tables for analyst use - Apply basic data quality checks and validation - Document data sources and transformations - Occasionally assist with small Looker or analytics-related tasks (not the primary focus) Tech Stack - Cloud: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - Ingestion: Fivetran - Languages: SQL, Python - BI: Looker (others a plus) What We’re Looking For - Expert-level experience in data engineering or analytics engineering - Strong SQL and Python skills - Familiarity with Cloud Run Functions/Cron Jobs/Or other scheduling tools - Familiarity with version control IE Dataform - Experience working with cloud data warehouses on GCP - Comfortable integrating data from varied sources (APIs, files, third-party tools) - Able to work independently while communicating clearly with stakeholders Nice to have: experience working with external vendors; familiarity with BI tools.
