Role Description This role involves supporting Indian Health Services as a Policy Analyst, working with clinicians, developers, and federal staff to define and document Health IT policies and regulations. • Document current state of business workflows and analyze/design new workflows ensuring compliance with Health IT standards, security measures, and interoperability. • Focus on the analysis and updates to policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, such as 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, ONC standards, HITECH, and the Privacy Act of 1974. • Provide input into high-level functional specifications. • Work with the team to define metrics and performance goals for relevant IT applications. • Participate in the creation of business needs statements and quality management reviews of designs, prototypes, and products to ensure they fulfill the proposed requirements. • Maintain current knowledge of relevant policies and best practices to HHS/IHS. • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the development cycle. • Participate in special projects as required. • Opportunity to work from home with a geographically dispersed team. • Occasional travel may be required. Qualifications • 5+ years of intensive and progressive experience in healthcare policy analysis, such as 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, ONC standards, HITECH, and the Privacy Act of 1974. • Experience with Health IT, EHR systems, and Meaningful Use. • In-depth knowledge of applying regulatory compliance with IT applications. • Experience crafting business needs statements. • Experience conducting quality management reviews. • Demonstrated ability to explain technical issues clearly/accurately to technical/non-technical audiences. • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team with adjusting priorities and deadlines. • Understanding of Agile processes. • Proven ability to work on a remote/distributed team. Requirements • Must reside in the U.S. • Requires the ability to pass an IHS background check and meet the residency requirement for having resided in the US at least (3) three out of the last (5) five years in order to obtain an appropriate level Public Trust clearance.
