[Remote] Internal Only - Remote Telemetry Technician - Cardiology - 18 Hours - Days - 7:00 am - 7:30 pm
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Henry Ford Health is a respected academic medical center offering a full continuum of services. They are seeking a Telemetry Technician to monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and assist nursing staff in providing care, ensuring patient safety and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
• Confers with department ordering Remote Telemetry in order to gather pertinent patient information data, including history of heart problems, code status, diagnosis, room number, and if patient has a pacemaker
• Selects and prepares telemetry box for application to patient and inputs correct patient information into the Remote Central Monitoring Station (RCMS)
• Applies heart monitor to patient when initiating monitoring whenever possible
• Explains remote monitoring process to the patient, answering questions and allaying concerns
• Reflects respect for patients’ rights, dignity, values, culture, preferences, and expressed needs
• Accurately recognizes cardiac rhythms, documents and posts strips as defined by the Remote Telemetry monitoring process; acts promptly to intervene for the patient by notifying the room RN, SWAT, and Code Team as deemed necessary
• Maintains all equipment in clean and proper working order, replenishing supplies as needed
• Notifies a supervisor of equipment malfunctions
• Prompt retrieval of telemetry boxes from patient/ unit upon patient discharge or discontinuation of remote telemetry monitoring
Skills
• Certified BLS Provider through the American Heart Association obtained within 3 months of hire or transfer date
• Will be required to pass a Basic Hospital Dysrhythmia course (as part of orientation) within the first 35 to 45 days of starting the position
• High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited program required
• Requires successful completion of Dysrhythmia training and exam
• Experience or Education in a medically related field preferred
