Whether it’s supporting law firms with critical document production or helping financial institutions manage high-volume print and digital communications, we’re the behind-the-scenes team making everything run smoothly.<br><br><br><br></p><strong>Job Description<br><br></strong><p>The Billing Narrative proofreader is responsible for all aspects of accuracy and consistency of billing narratives as well as ensuring proper coding of entries and compliance with Outside Counsel Guidelines. This position will need to establish and maintain relationships with internal and external law firm contributors and will require fluent writing and editing of legal billing content to ensure full compliance and payment of legal invoices. The role serves as an advisor that is responsible for independently assessing the validity of billing entries based on Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs), payment history, and client interactions. <br><br></p><p>Schedule: 8:30am - 5pm or 8am - 5pm EST <br><br></p><p>(* denotes an “essential function”)<br><br></p><ul><li><p>*Proofread complex legal billing narratives to ensure consistency, spelling, dictation, syntax, punctuation, and grammar<br><br></p></li><li><p>*Review and edit time entries to ensure proper coding, billing rates, compliance with OCG (Outside Client Guidelines) and missing time<br><br></p></li><li><p>*Proactively follow-up with timekeepers and their assistants when necessary<br><br></p></li><li><p>*Ensure client specific needs are met, (i.e., electronic billing processes, alternative billing arrangements) while confirming internal firm policies and procedures are appropriately implemented and enforced.<br><br></p></li><li><p>Compare documents against originals to ensure an accurate translation.<br><br></p></li><li><p>Review cross references, and defined terms for accuracy<br><br></p></li><li><p>Check handwritten revisions/electronic red lines against working draft to ensure all corrections are made accurately<br><br></p></li><li><p>Conduct separate checks for format, text accuracy and statistical data<br><br></p></li><li><p>Ensure that the content of the invoice is accurate, clear and complete and that the material is organized logically<br><br></p></li><li><p>Communicate with law firm and clients to ensure consistency, accuracy and speed in the billing process.<br><br></p></li><li><p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills<br><br></p></li><li><p>Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality<br><br></p></li><li><p>Ability to work in a team fostered environment<br><br></p></li><li><p>Ability to work in multi-tasked environment.<br><br></p></li><li><p>Ability to prioritize and organize work.<br><br><br><br></p></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li><p>Associate or bachelor’s degree required with concentration in English, Business, Finance or other related discipline. Commensurate experience may be considered in lieu of education, based upon candidate’s overall employment history<br><br></p></li><li><p>Strong analytical and critical thinking skills<br><br></p></li><li><p>Minimum four years of billing experience in a law-firm or professional organization strongly recommended or three plus years of legal proofreading experience highly preferred.<br><br></p></li><li><p>Familiarity with legal terminology and a variety of document formats used in legal work.<br><br></p></li><li><p>Ability to multitask and meet stringent deadlines. <br><br></p></li><li><p>Excellent organizational and time-management skills. <br><br></p></li><li><p>Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as taking ownership for individual assignments.<br><br></p></li><li><p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. <br><br></p></li><li><p>Attention to details required.<br><br></p></li><li><p>Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.<br><br></p></li><li><p>Experience with Aderant or Elite/Elite 3E and/or business intelligence products strongly preferred<br><br><br><br></p></li></ul><strong>Additional Information<br><br></strong><p>The range of pay for this role at the noted RRD location is $25 to $28/hour. Typically, roles follow step progressions to a target rate or set increments over time. Depending on the role, in addition to the hourly rate of pay, the total compensation package may also include overtime, shift differential, call-in, and/or stand-by pay.
