Experienced Design Engineer Needed for SolidWorks 3D CAD & Fabrication Drawings - Contract to Hire
We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to create 3D CAD models and detailed fabrication drawings for mechanical components and assemblies.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks, a solid understanding of mechanical design, and practical knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes. You will be responsible for delivering manufacturing-ready outputs, not just conceptual models.
This is an hourly project with the potential for long-term collaboration for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
Create accurate 3D CAD models using SolidWorks
Produce detailed fabrication and manufacturing drawings
Prepare BOMs (Bills of Materials) where required
Ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and aligned with fabrication standards
Revise designs based on feedback and engineering requirements
Requirements
Proven experience as a Design Engineer or Mechanical CAD Designer
Strong expertise in SolidWorks
Experience creating fabrication-ready drawings
Practical understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes
Attention to detail and ability to follow engineering specifications
Ability to communicate clearly and meet deadlines
Nice to Have
Experience with assemblies and complex mechanical systems
Knowledge of machining, sheet metal, welding, or industrial fabrication
Long-term availability for ongoing work
