Position Summary: The Software Asset Specialist supports SAM program initiatives by assisting with automation development, collaborating with IT teams, maintaining software asset records, tracking and reporting compliance, supporting the software asset lifecycle, providing licensing assistance, supporting stakeholders, promoting continuous improvement, and participating in ongoing learning.
Responsibilities:
• Support projects related to maturing, enhancing, auditing, and modifying the SAM program through data collection, documentation, and process efficiencies.
• Assist in developing processes and procedures to automate the collection, storage, and reporting of software data, including SOPs and WIs.
• Collaborate with IT teams regarding SAM-related data sources, discovery tools, APIs, and integrations.
• Maintain databases containing software assets, licenses, warranties, services, and lease agreements.
• Track and report on software asset data; analyze trends; create dashboards showing KPIs, compliance insights, and financial optimization opportunities.
• Support lifecycle management of software assets, validate discovery data, and perform reconciliation and audits.
• Provide licensing support, contribute to license metric design, and support SAM tool administration and data maintenance.
• Track software compliance issues, support remediation, prepare audit documentation, and generate compliance and usage reports.
• Support stakeholders across application leadership, security, engineering, enterprise architecture, vendor management, finance, contracting, and general end users.
• Encourage continuous improvement through innovation, best practice adoption, and knowledge sharing.
• Participate in ongoing training and development; identify opportunities to optimize underutilized IT assets.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
• 3+ years of experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM).
• Minimum 1+ year of demonstrated experience in Software Asset Management (SAM) , including remediation, software data analysis, and compliance metrics.
• Experience writing ITAM standards and processes.
• Proven experience successfully delivering a complex ITAM project on time.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing and delivering presentations to large audiences and all organizational levels.
• Demonstrated advanced analytical skills.
• Advanced reporting skills with evidence of performance metrics, financial analysis, capacity reporting, SMART goals, and automation/efficiency improvements.
• Strong collaboration, facilitation, negotiation, and problem solving skills across all organizational levels.
• Ability to lead group problem solving with minimal direction.
• Ability to independently multi-task, prioritize, and complete multiple daily objectives.
• Ability to explain technical concepts to non technical stakeholders
