HR Director / Senior HR Consultant - Multi-State Compliance, Policy Development & Employee Relations
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior HR Consultant or Fractional HR Director to partner with leadership and support our organization with strategic HR guidance, compliance oversight, and policy development.
This role is designed for an executive-level HR professional who has significant experience advising leadership teams and building scalable HR infrastructure for growing organizations.
We are looking for someone who can serve as a trusted HR advisor, helping ensure our people practices align with federal and state employment laws while also supporting leadership with practical, business-focused HR strategy.
This is not an HR administration role. We are seeking a senior consultant with experience operating at the HR Director, Head of HR, or Fractional HR leader level.
The consultant may support initiatives such as:
• Reviewing and developing employee handbooks and HR policies.
• Conducting HR compliance assessments across federal and state regulations.
• Advising leadership on employee relations, performance management, and workplace issues.
• Providing guidance on employee classification (exempt vs. non-exempt, contractor vs. employee)
• Assisting with workplace investigations and employee complaints.
• Developing or reviewing offer letters, employment agreements, and contractor agreements.
• Supporting the development of HR processes, documentation, and best practices.
• Advising leadership on risk mitigation, compliance strategy, and HR infrastructure.
The work will vary depending on organizational needs, so the ideal candidate is comfortable advising across a broad range of HR topics.
We are seeking a consultant who:
• Has 15+ years of HR leadership or consulting experience.
• Has deep knowledge of U.S. employment law and HR compliance.
• Has experience supporting multi-state organizations.
• Has developed employee handbooks, HR policies, and compliance frameworks.
• Has experience advising executive leadership teams.
• Is comfortable working independently in a fractional or consulting capacity.
Preferred Qualifications:
• HR certification such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent.
• Experience serving as a Fractional HR Director or Head of HR.
• Strong experience with policy development and HR documentation.
• Experience supporting growing or scaling organizations.
Engagement Details:
• Remote consulting engagement
• Estimated 5-15 hours per week
• 6-month engagement with potential for extension
Hourly Rate: $175 - $225 per hour
Budget reflects senior-level HR consulting expertise.
