Schedule: PRN Shift: Night (United States of America) Address: 401 PALMETTO ST City: NEW SMYRNA BEACH State: Florida Postal Code: 32168 Job Description: Conducts diagnostic testing including bedside spirometry, overnight pulse oximetry studies, and capnography. Performs artificial airway maintenance including proper use of manual resuscitators, suctioning, extubation, assistance with bronchoscopy, assistance with tracheostomy tube insertion/changes, and oral and nasal pharyngeal airway insertion. Utilizes patient assessment skills to plan, implement, and evaluate care based on protocols, chart review, and conferring with the multidisciplinary team. Initiates, maintains, transports, and monitors patients on invasive mechanical ventilation. Manages the delivery of medical gases including oxygen, heliox, and nitric oxide. Performs arterial blood collection and analyzes samples in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards. Participates in multidisciplinary rounds and education initiatives as required. Oversees blood gas labs, resources, and supply management for the shift. Practices and enforces safety and infection control precautions according to hospital policies. Accurately documents procedures to ensure quality standards set by the department and hospital. Responds to medical emergencies immediately and provides interventions according to the American Heart Association. Performs aerosolized medication delivery. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Critical thinking and patient assessment skills with the ability to evaluate and modify treatment plans utilizing respiratory therapy driven protocols. [Required] • Optimize the use of equipment and resources [Required] • Strong communication skills within the multidisciplinary team, patients and families.
