At The New Mexican, we remain committed to community journalism and investigative reporting, and value copy editing and impactful presentation. On our copy desk, multi-tasking is a must. You'll be editing stories, designing pages, selecting and editing photos, and posting stories and photos to our website, with other duties as assigned. Newsroom experience is preferred for this position, but highly motivated college graduates are encouraged to apply. Your skills should include: • Excellent grammar and spelling skills. • Knowledge of AP style. • Excellent headline-writing skills and news judgment. • Attention to detail. • Comfortable with deadline pressure. • Interest and curiosity in national and world events, sports, science, the arts and pop culture. • Comfortable with deadline pressure. • Experience with the reputed company Creative Suite. • Familiarity with web publishing and SEO. • Familiarity with the BLOX platform a plus.
