Position Overview

Under the direction of the Pharmacy Supervisor/Manager, the Pharmacy Technician – Data Entry will be responsible for accurately processing prescription orders, maintaining meticulous records, and communicating effectively with internal teams and external partners. This full‑time role follows a standard Monday‑through‑Friday schedule (8:30 am – 5:00 pm or 9:00 am – 5:30 pm) and is situated in our bustling Louisville facility.

Core Responsibilities

  • Verify all prescription details prior to entry, ensuring correct prescriber name, patient information, medication name, dosage, quantity, refill count, lot number, and expiration date.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, state, and federal privacy regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with arenaflex Pharmacy representatives to confirm medication availability, resolve inventory discrepancies, and coordinate care plans.
  • Create and update prescription logs, electronic records, and related documentation with unwavering accuracy.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of completed prescriptions and authorizations to confirm adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Initiate follow‑up on outstanding orders, escalating discrepancies to the pharmacist or senior technicians as needed.
  • Troubleshoot order delays, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment that supports efficient workflow and safety protocols.
  • Execute routine pharmacy functions such as label generation, medication verification, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Screen patient histories for duplicate orders and adhere to established duplicate‑order procedures.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Kentucky Pharmacy Technician Registration.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, as mandated by Kentucky law.

Preferred Education & Experience

  • Minimum of one (1) year of specialty pharmacy technician experience, preferably within a data‑entry or high‑volume setting.
  • National certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or another recognized certifying agency.
  • Experience with electronic prescribing platforms (e.g., SureScripts, RxConnect) and pharmacy management systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong grasp of medical terminology, including sig codes, Roman numerals, brand and generic medication names, and standard pharmacy language.
  • Proficient computer literacy—comfortable navigating operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, PDF tools, and collaborative software (e.g., Teams, Slack).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex information clearly to clinicians, patients, and team members.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and positive patient interactions.
