[Remote] Product & Compliance Counsel
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Latitude Legal is partnering with a leading cybersecurity and identity-management software provider to hire a Products & Compliance Counsel. The role involves providing strategic legal guidance on product development, vendor relationships, and regulatory compliance to ensure alignment with global laws and internal policies.
Responsibilities
• Provide legal guidance to the product team on a wide range of matters, including software development, licensing, third-party integrations, and vendor relationships
• Manage compliance programs, including export/trade compliance, intellectual property compliance, third-party software build materials, and accessibility requirements
• Advise on open source software usage and ensure proper licensing, risk mitigation, and compliance with organizational policies
• Support the company’s trade compliance program in accordance with applicable trade laws, export regulations, and international legal requirements
• Collaborate with vendor management, procurement, and operations teams to assess legal and compliance risks associated with third-party relationships
• Provide guidance on data privacy and security matters, including cross-border data transfer issues, vendor data processing agreements, and privacy impact assessments
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements with customers, partners, vendors, and other third parties in alignment with legal and business objectives
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, proactively identifying potential legal and compliance risks and recommending practical solutions
• Stay current on regulatory developments and industry best practices related to product compliance, data privacy, export control, and intellectual property
Skills
• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree and active bar admission
• 5+ years of experience as in-house counsel or in private practice supporting technology companies, ideally SaaS or enterprise software
• Strong expertise in export/trade compliance, intellectual property compliance, and open-source software licensing
• Experience advising product teams on legal issues throughout the software development lifecycle
• Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and experience advising on privacy compliance for products and vendors
• Familiarity with vendor management, contract negotiation, and risk assessment processes
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business guidance
• Highly process-oriented with the ability to implement and improve compliance programs and workflows
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment
