Obtains patient history, vital signs, performs 12 lead EKGs, and monitors/interprets cardiac telemetry. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, uses PPE appropriately, performs hand hygiene, and maintains aseptic technique. Produces accurate and prompt medical records, ensuring authenticity and security, and follows the process for amending documents. Assists with pre-procedural prep, transports patients pre and post-procedure, including those with sheaths or under sedation. Assists Emergency Department Registered Nurse with transporting STEMI patients to the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Capable of arterial and venous sheath removal, bleeding control, and obtaining hemostasis. Uses external defibrillator for cardioversions, manual defibrillation, and transcutaneous pacing. Performs venipuncture for laboratory testing and CPR when needed. Under physician supervision, performs exercise and pharmacologic cardiac stress testing. Monitors and transports patients with ACLS approved medication drips and administers medications by IV push or infusion in emergencies. Establishes and maintains peripheral intravenous access and administers non-medicated intravenous fluid therapy. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Basic arrhythmia interpretation. [Required] • Advanced levels of ECG training & arrhythmia interpretation. [Preferred] • Computer knowledge and skills.
