<p>Position Type</p> <p>Temporary, Hourly, In Person<br /> Compensation</p> <p>$30/hour (no benefits)<br /> Reports To</p> <p>People and Projects Lead</p> <p>PROGRAM DATES</p> <p>Spring Session</p> <p>April 4 – May 14, 2026</p> <p>Tuesdays or Thursdays, 4:00 – 7:00 PM</p> <p>Wednesdays, 4:00 – 7:00 PM</p> <p>Public Event: May 8, 5:00 – 8:00 PM</p> <p>Schedule: 4 hrs/2x per week</p> <p>(2 hrs class + 2 hrs prep per day)<br /> Summer Session</p> <p>June 15 – August 7, 2026</p> <p>Monday – Fridays: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM</p> <p>Thursdays: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM</p> <p>Required: Bi-weekly 15-min check-ins</p> <p>with supervisor; weekly staff meeting</p> <p>on Thursdays (summer)</p> <p>ABOUT BALTIMORE YOUTH ARTS</p> <p>Baltimore Youth Arts is a creative entrepreneurship and job training program that provides artistic and professional opportunities to youth ages 14-21, with a focus on those involved in the justice system. Our mission is to support young people in gaining the creative, personal, and educational skills that enable them to become leaders in their communities.</p> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION</p> <p>Baltimore Youth Arts is seeking a Graphic Design Facilitator to support Apprentices in the Spring/Summer 2026 Apprentice Program. This role facilitates workshop-style classes. BYA’s project-based curriculum will engage youth in developing a collaborative coloring book dand a commissioned public art installation exploring how young people envision Baltimore’s Inner Harbor over the next century, in partnership with the National Aquarium.</p> <p>The Graphic Design Facilitator will guide youth in building creative and technical design skills from concept through final production, including leading the design and layout of the coloring book and ensuring all deliverables meet specifications for the commissioned public art project. Responsibilities also include tracking attendance, documenting program activities, and curating youth artwork.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Programming</p> <p>•  Facilitate fine art classes at the Baltimore Youth Arts studio (20 West North Avenue, Baltimore 21218)</p> <p>•  Support life skills and career readiness for youth enrolled in BYA’s Summer YouthWorks Programming</p> <p>•  Track youth attendance and submit required paperwork to BYA Admin</p> <p>•  Develop flexible lesson plans that prioritize skill-building and project completion in collaboration with youth</p> <p>•  Create class outlines, lesson plans, and materials lists; share with BYA Admin by required deadlines</p> <p>•  Support participants in cleaning and organizing our workspace after each session</p> <p>•  Maintain inventory of all materials and supplies</p> <p>Documentation</p> <p>•  Edit and organize artwork files in collaboration with youth throughout the session, and during the final week before the showcase</p> <p>•  Upload all lesson plans to the shared drive</p> <p>Program-Wide (All Staff)</p> <p>•  Attend bi-weekly check-ins with direct supervisor</p> <p>•  Attend relevant professional development training as assigned by your supervisor and BYA Admin</p> <p>•  Collaborate with BYA staff to plan field trips and invite guest speakers for youth</p> <p>•  Uphold BYA’s values in all interactions with youth, staff, and community partners</p> <p>•  Help maintain the BYA Community Studio so that youth have access to supplies and the workspace remains safe and organized</p> <p>•  Complete other duties as assigned and relevant to your position</p> <p>PREFERRED EXPERIENCE</p> <p>•  Experience working with youth ages 14-21</p> <p>•  Experience and well-versed in one or more of the following artistic media:</p> <p>Photography<br /> Painting<br /> Drawing<br /> Digital Design<br /> •  Experience in community programming, education, or nonprofit settings</p> <p>•  Experience in project management; ability to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks</p> <p>•  Familiarity with lesson planning and teaching</p> <p>•  Proficiency in Google Suite</p> <p>•  Belief in the creative potential and voices of young people</p> <p>•  Strong commitment to economic, social, and racial justice</p> <p>•  Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills</p> <p>•  Ability to work both independently and as part of a team</p> <p>•  Strong organizational skills and time management</p> <p>A background check is required for this position.
