Staff Accountant
Epredia, part of the PHC Group, is a leading producer of laboratory equipment in the biomedical and diagnostics sectors. They are seeking a Staff Accountant to support essential accounting functions, ensure compliance with IFRS, and maintain accurate financial statements while adhering to internal controls over financial reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, including prepaid expenses, accruals, and adjusting entries
- Verify the validity of monthly allocations
- Review and approve coding of operating expenses
- Reconcile sub-ledger accounts to general ledger balances
- Maintain accurate account reconciliations and supporting documentation, including sub-ledgers, journals, and other financial records
- Process overseas wire requests through internal banking systems
- Process ACH and check batches using internal banking systems and the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system
- Support ad-hoc requests from senior management and other departments
- Follow Parent Company PHC Corporation policies, internal controls, JSox, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
- Support the protection of company assets through adherence to established processes and controls
- Conduct initial internal control evaluations
- Investigate, resolve, or report inconsistencies or improprieties to the Accounting Manager
- Review and interpret accounting policies and procedures
- Assist with audits related to financial statements and internal controls with external independent auditors
- Prepare indirect tax reporting and support remittance to state taxing authorities
- Identify and research account discrepancies
- Prepare and post reclassification journal entries as needed
- Review assigned general ledger accounts and prepare correcting journal entries as needed
- Review marketing, advertising, and promotional expenses to ensure alignment with business plans
- Perform accounting analysis, including balance sheet accounts, expense and salary accruals, departmental expenses, prepaid expenses, insurance, and travel advances
- Assist with monthly financial analysis, including balance sheet, income statement, and changes in financial position or budget variance analysis
- Prepare financial reports and related statements, charts, tables, and other supporting exhibits
- Assist with budget and forecast preparation
Skills
- A bachelor's degree in Accounting from a university accredited by the United States Department of Education is required
- 1–2 years of full-time experience in an accounting function required
- Experience performing accounting department functions
- Experience applying IFRS accounting principles and supporting financial statement preparation
- Experience supporting SOX compliance and internal control processes
- Experience analyzing financial data and resolving accounting-related issues
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, INDEX, IF, and other formulas
- Experience using Word Processing, PowerPoint, PDF, and email software
- Ability to meet deadlines, including during month-end close
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with others on accounting tasks
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer
- Internship experience in a corporate accounting environment preferred
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics AX or similar ERP systems preferred
- Experience communicating accounting policies and financial information to internal stakeholders
