The Role: Data Annotation Supervisor

If so, arenaflex is looking for a talented Data Annotation Supervisor to join our Autopilot Information Explanation team.

In this critical role, you'll lead a team of Data Annotation Specialists who are responsible for annotating pictures, videos, and other camera data that trains our neural networks. Accurate data annotation is the foundation upon which our autonomous driving systems learn and improve. It's the "ground truth" that enables arenaflex to achieve full self-driving capability. Your team will work closely with engineering teams to ship client-facing releases, making your work instrumental to our mission.

As a Data Annotation Supervisor, you'll be responsible for driving efficiency and excellence within a medium-sized team of annotators. You'll implement training plans, track progress, and ensure your team consistently delivers accurate results while adhering to clear guidelines set by leadership. What You'll Do

As a key member of the Autopilot Information Explanation team at arenaflex, your responsibilities will include:

• Team Leadership & Performance Management: Direct ongoing execution management for your team – create comprehensive training plans, track individual and team progress, and complete monthly Expert and Lead performance reports. You'll be responsible for developing your annotators into top performers.
• Daily Performance Assessment: Evaluate everyday performance using our proprietary annotation software. Report daily summaries and team metrics to ensure transparency and continuous improvement across all operations.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with developers and Autopilot authorities. You'll own annotation approaches that require a deep understanding of both technical and operational constraints, bridging the gap between annotation work and software development.
• Process Optimization: Maintain a solid understanding of project rules to effectively deliver labeling concepts, identify marking weaknesses, and assist with creating documentation and training materials for your team.
• Resource Allocation: Execute proper headcount distribution between Quality Control, Labeling, and priority work lines daily as directed by leadership. You'll ensure optimal utilization of team resources to meet project deadlines.
• Documentation Management: Ensure documentation and daily prep materials for the team are accurate and consistently updated. Clear, accessible documentation is essential for maintaining quality and onboarding new team members.
• Administrative Leadership: Handle other administrative duties including employee development, conducting bi-annual performance reviews, and monthly performance check-ins with Team Leads and Data Annotation Subject Matter Experts.
• Team Recognition: Recognize employees on a monthly rhythm who consistently exceed expectations. Your positive reinforcement will help maintain high morale and motivation.
• Mentorship & Team Building: Mentor direct reports and ensure the team functions as a cohesive unit. You'll foster a collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and supported.
• Timekeeping & Attendance: Accurately manage timekeeping and attendance through the Kronos system, ensuring compliance with company policies and accurate payroll processing.

• Communication Skills: Strong communication and presentation abilities – you can explain complex subjects and ideas in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in standard workflow software including JIRA, Excel, and similar productivity tools. Comfort with data management systems is essential.
• Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree is required for this position, preferably in a related field such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in data annotation, labeling, or quality assurance roles within AI/ML development
• Experience in the autonomous vehicle or robotics industry
• Familiarity with 3D annotation tools and techniques
