The Opportunity: Remote APAC Payroll Specialist

As arenaflex continues to expand our presence across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, we are seeking a talented Payroll Specialist to ensure the efficient and accurate processing of employee compensation for our APAC workforce. This newly created role will be based in our Philippines office, with regular collaboration with teams across the region, including Singapore and other APAC locations.

This is a day shift position offering the stability of a regular schedule while providing the flexibility of remote work arrangements. You'll be joining a collaborative team that values precision, communication, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

As an integral member of our Payroll team, you will play a critical role in ensuring employees receive their accurate pay on time, every time. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Payroll Processing: Manage end-to-end payroll processing for assigned APAC countries using our third-party payroll systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in every cycle.
  • Weekly Expense Processing: Handle weekly expense processing in-house through Workday host-to-host payment systems, maintaining meticulous records.
  • Payroll Changes Management: Prepare, post, and process payroll changes including new hires, leavers, and status changes for each entity through Workday HCM within required timelines.
  • New Hire Compliance: Responsible for reporting new hires and leavers' files to the payroll provider, ensuring all documentation complies with local regulations and internal policies.
  • Data Validation: Conduct thorough validation of payroll input against payroll checks and coordinate with payroll carriers for necessary changes and corrections.
  • Payment Coordination: Work closely with payroll providers to ensure timely payout to employees and proper submission of statutory payments.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Execute tasks related to monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reporting and taxation activities.
  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll inquiries through the Zendesk ticketing system, providing timely and professional responses.
  • Budget Management: Record, screen, and analyze monthly payroll costs, raising purchase orders as needed.
  • Contract Management: Report and monitor payroll providers' contract renewal dates, ensuring continuity of service.
  • Team Collaboration: Work seamlessly with Philippines and Singapore team members while following global system alignment protocols.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll and accounting processing within a BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) or shared services environment.
  • Regional Expertise: Hands-on experience with APAC payroll, with specific knowledge of payroll processes in Korea, Australia, and India considered highly valuable.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll and associated statutory contribution laws required for accurate payroll-related calculations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Technical Proficiency: Above-average proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Microsoft Excel, and Word, as well as Workday HCM experience.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to interact professionally across diverse cultural contexts.
  • Remote Work Capability: Ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively with APAC team members outside of the Philippines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certifications in payroll management or accounting (e.g., CPA, CIPP)
  • Previous experience in the entertainment or streaming industry
  • Knowledge of additional Asian languages
  • Experience with Workday payroll modules
  • Background in international payroll compliance
