Reefer Dispatcher – Owner Operator Fleet (Remote Eligible) Job Summary Booker Transportation Services is seeking an experienced REEFER Dispatcher to manage time-sensitive refrigerated freight for a growing fleet of owner-operators. This role is responsible for executing high-service freight, protecting on-time performance, maximizing driver productivity, and maintaining strong communication with drivers and customers. This is not an entry-level dispatch role. The ideal candidate has real experience working directly with owner-operators, understands the urgency and precision required in meat and reefer freight, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment. Dispatchers at Booker have meaningful autonomy and directly impact fleet performance, driver retention, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities • Dispatch and manage refrigerated meat freight for owner-operators in a high-volume, time-sensitive environment. • Plan and execute optimal load sequencing to maximize revenue, reduce deadhead, and maintain strong service levels. • Monitor appointments, transit times, temperature requirements, and service expectations to protect on-time delivery performance. • Maintain constant communication with drivers regarding load details, routing, ETAs, delays, and operational issues. • Proactively identify and resolve service risks before they impact customers or drivers. • Coordinate trailer availability, maintenance needs, and equipment positioning as needed. • Utilize TMS systems, load boards, tracking tools, and multi-line phone systems to manage daily operations. • Accurately document dispatch activity, notes, and operational data. • Work collaboratively with leadership, safety, and operations teams to improve fleet performance and consistency. • Participate in rotating after-hours and weekend support coverage when required. Required Experience & Skills • 2+ years of dispatch experience in trucking or logistics. • Direct experience dispatching owner-operators is required. • Strong understanding of refrigerated freight, appointment freight, and service-sensitive customers. • Comfortable managing multiple trucks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • High level of organization, attention to detail, and follow-through. • Experience using TMS platforms, load boards, GPS tracking tools, and multi-line phone systems. • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and take ownership of outcomes. Preferred (Nice to Have) • Experience with meat, protein, or temperature-controlled freight. • Remote dispatch experience. • Familiarity with owner-operator pay structures, settlements, and driver relations.
