**Job Summary**
As a Medical Record/Data Entry Clerk/Project Support Associate, you'll play a vital role in supporting our Revenue Recovery Department. This hybrid position offers a unique blend of remote and in-office work, with a 2/3 days on/off mix. You'll work closely with our team of experts to retrieve patient medical records, generate and prepare patient itemized bills, and extract/enter necessary information from hospital patient accounting systems. Your attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to work independently will be essential in ensuring the success of our projects.
**Key Responsibilities**
* Retrieve patient medical records from various hospital systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
* Generate and prepare patient itemized bills in appropriate formats for internal and external audits
* Extract and enter necessary information from/to hospital patient accounting systems, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality
* Make phone calls to post-acute healthcare facilities to obtain information needed on patients, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Run and create reports, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement
* Assist with any other information gathering or data entry as needed by the recovery team, adapting to changing priorities and deadlines
* Scan and index documents, maintaining a secure and organized digital filing system
**Essential Qualifications**
* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., healthcare administration, business, or data analysis) preferred
* 1-2 years of experience in medical records, data entry, or a related field, with a strong understanding of healthcare reimbursement and billing processes
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with electronic health records (EHRs) and hospital patient accounting systems
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and facility administrators
* Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and data integrity
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities and deadlines
**Preferred Qualifications**
* Experience working in a healthcare revenue integrity or billing environment
* Familiarity with coding systems (e.g., ICD-10, CPT) and medical terminology
* Certification in medical records or a related field (e.g., RHIT, CCA)
* Experience with data analysis and reporting, including the creation of dashboards and visualizations
* Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues
