Our client is a leader in automotive technology and is looking for a highly skilled Remote Automotive Diagnostic Software Engineer to contribute to the future of vehicle diagnostics. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere while collaborating with a world-class engineering team. You will be responsible for developing, testing, and implementing sophisticated diagnostic software that powers next-generation vehicles. This involves analyzing complex vehicle data, identifying root causes of issues, and designing robust software solutions. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of automotive systems, embedded software development, and diagnostic protocols. You will work on cutting-edge projects, leveraging your expertise to enhance vehicle performance, reliability, and user experience. This role requires strong programming skills in languages such as C++, Python, and embedded C, along with experience in real-time operating systems. You will be involved in the entire software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and architectural design to implementation, testing, and post-launch support. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and product managers, is crucial. This position is based conceptually in **Houston, Texas, US**, but operates entirely remotely. Responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain diagnostic software for automotive systems. Analyze vehicle data logs and diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) to identify system failures. Develop algorithms for fault detection, diagnosis, and troubleshooting. Implement and test embedded software solutions in C++ and embedded C. Work with real-time operating systems (RTOS) and automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN). Collaborate with hardware engineers to define software requirements and integrate software with hardware components. Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and system tests. Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to standards. Troubleshoot and debug complex software issues in a remote environment. Contribute to the architecture and design of new diagnostic features and tools. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in automotive technology and diagnostic software. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in automotive software development, with a focus on diagnostics. Strong proficiency in C++, Python, and embedded C programming. Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS). Deep understanding of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet). Familiarity with diagnostic standards (e.g., UDS, OBD-II). Experience with debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
