Our client, a critically acclaimed game development studio in **Boston, Massachusetts, US**, is seeking an exceptionally talented and visionary Lead Sound Designer to shape the audio experience for their next AAA title. This is a unique opportunity to lead a team of audio professionals and define the sonic identity of a groundbreaking game. The ideal candidate possesses a masterful understanding of sound design principles, game audio middleware, and real-time audio implementation, coupled with strong leadership capabilities and a passion for creating immersive auditory worlds. Responsibilities: Lead and mentor the sound design team, fostering a collaborative and creative environment. Oversee the creation and implementation of all in-game audio, including sound effects, environmental audio, UI sounds, and character voices. Develop and maintain the overall audio direction and aesthetic for the game, ensuring a cohesive and impactful sonic experience. Work closely with game designers, level designers, and narrative teams to integrate audio seamlessly with gameplay and story. Design, record, edit, and mix high-quality sound assets using industry-standard tools. Implement audio assets using game engines (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) and audio middleware (e.g., Wwise, FMOD). Create dynamic and reactive audio systems that respond to player actions and in-game events. Collaborate on the implementation of music and ensure its effective integration with sound effects and dialogue. Conduct audio quality assurance and provide constructive feedback to the team. Manage audio asset pipelines and ensure efficient workflow for the audio team. Stay at the forefront of audio technology and techniques in game development. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Game Design, or a related field; equivalent professional experience considered. Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in game sound design, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role on AAA titles. Proven ability to create compelling and high-fidelity sound effects for various game elements. Expertise with industry-standard Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Cubase. Proficiency with game audio middleware like Wwise or FMOD. Strong understanding of Unreal Engine or Unity audio systems. Experience in recording, editing, and mixing dialogue and Foley. Exceptional creative vision and a keen ear for detail. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to provide clear direction and constructive feedback to a team. A portfolio showcasing outstanding game audio work is required.
