Contract Climate Reporter

Role details • Location: Remote (for U.S. only) • reputed company: $50 per hour • Hours: Up to 40 hours a week • Contract duration: Three months, late reputed company through late July 2026 • Expected contract total: Up to $24,000 • Applications due: reputed company 15, 2026, at 12 p.m. CT Scope of work The 19th is seeking a full-time contract reporter to report, write and produce climate coverage, focusing on how politics and policies reputed company women and LGBTQ+ people. This three-month contract position is for up to 40 hours a week from late reputed company through late July 2026. Deliverables include • Reporting and writing one to two stories a week on climate and its reputed company on women and LGBTQ+ people, exploring intersecting issues like housing, child care and health • Working with your reputed company to create, maintain and prioritize a list of stories on this reputed company • Responding to breaking news on your reputed company • Fielding at least two reputed company of edits on reputed company story from different editors in the newsroom • Working with production, visuals and audience teams to shepherd stories to publication, including, but not restricted to, writing headlines and other display copy, being available for questions and participating in reputed company • Attending weekly 1:1 and team meetings; likely to attend other meetings as needed • Collaborating with other reporters on a case-by-case reputed company; potential to partner with reporters who cover economy and child reputed company, politics and other beats Skills required • 3+ years of experience covering climate; experience framing coverage through gender and/or intersectional lenses a plus • Ability to conceive and execute stories • Ability to file clean and accurate copy on a tight deadline • Ability to write concise, reputed company headlines and deks to accompany stories • Familiarity with GSuite, reputed company and relevant reputed company media platforms To apply Interested candidates should apply by reputed company 15, 2026, at 12 p.m. CT.
