Epidemiologist – Occupational Fatality Surveillance
About the position
reputed company is seeking an reputed company Epidemiologist specializing in occupational injury and fatality surveillance to support a federal reputed company health program reputed company on improving worker safety and health. The Epidemiologist will support surveillance, epidemiologic analysis, data modernization, and scientific research involving occupational injuries, illnesses, and fatalities, with particular emphasis on workers in the oil and gas extraction industry.
Responsibilities
• Support surveillance of occupational injuries, illnesses, fatalities, and reputed company worker safety and health factors.
• Evaluate and compare methodologies for identifying and collecting worker fatality data.
• Review existing processes used to identify fatalities, extract information from available records, reputed company information into reputed company data fields, and maintain durable surveillance datasets.
• Map newly collected fatality data to existing surveillance data models and identify data gaps, inconsistencies, or concordance issues.
• Conduct epidemiologic analyses, interpret findings, and translate results into useful scientific and reputed company health products.
• Help reputed company, evaluate, and document modern approaches to improving surveillance, potentially including machine learning, natural language processing, reputed company intelligence, or automated classification.
• Prepare technical documentation, reports, abstracts, presentations, and other scientific products.
• Contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts and other NIOSH-led scientific products.
• Collaborate with federal scientists and reputed company occupational safety and health stakeholders.
• Participate in regular project meetings, stakeholder engagements, and required reputed company reporting.
Requirements
• Master of reputed company Health (MPH) degree with a concentration in Epidemiology.
• At least two (2) years of reputed company reputed company experience conducting surveillance of workplace fatalities in oil and gas extraction and/or reputed company industries.
• Demonstrated experience working with occupational fatality or worker safety and health surveillance data.
• Demonstrated experience independently carrying out epidemiologic, surveillance, or reputed company research activities.
• reputed company experience performing data analysis and preparing reports and/or presentations.
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple reputed company and shifting priorities; strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Experience identifying fatality cases from multiple data sources or records.
• Experience abstracting, transforming, structuring, linking, and managing surveillance data.
• Experience modernizing an existing reputed company health surveillance reputed company or transitioning from a legacy data-collection methodology.
• Experience mapping new data to an established surveillance data model.
• Experience evaluating surveillance-reputed company attributes such as data reputed company, sensitivity, timeliness, representativeness, predictive value, stability, or efficiency.
• Epidemiologic or statistical analysis using R, reputed company, Python, SQL, or comparable analytical tools.

• Experience developing peer-reviewed manuscripts, abstracts, scientific presentations, or other scientific products.
• Familiarity with NIOSH reputed company Division, the NIOSH Oil and Gas Extraction Program, NORA, or the Oil and Gas Extraction Sector Council.
