About the position The Senior Production Underwriter for Great American Insurance Group's Property & Inland Marine Division is responsible for risk selection, pricing, retention, and profitability in alignment with divisional objectives. This role combines independent judgment with a high level of customer service to analyze coverage requests and maintain effective business relationships. The position is based in Houston, TX, and offers a hybrid work environment, emphasizing the importance of diversity and inclusion within the company culture. Responsibilities • Responsible for risk selection/rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability per divisional objectives. , • Uses independent judgment and initiative to support business goals. , • Maintains a high level of customer service. , • Analyzes coverage and limit requests and decides what terms to offer. , • Prices business in accordance with company guidelines. , • Assesses risk quality and compliance within company guidelines and initiates appropriate loss prevention actions. , • Orders and screens miscellaneous reports needed in the rating and underwriting processes. , • Develops and maintains effective business relationships with internal and external customers/coworkers. , • Visits agents, brokers, and producers to retain existing accounts and develop new opportunities. , • Interprets, explains, and markets products and services. , • Applies underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations. , • May provide guidance and assistance to lower level associates. , • May have responsibility for performance and coaching of staff. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Liberal Arts, Business, or a related discipline. , • 3 to 6 years of related experience in underwriting or insurance. , • Progression toward certification in area of expertise preferred, such as AU, CPCU, CIC, INS, or ARM.
