About the position The Plant Maintenance Mechanic at American Airlines is responsible for ensuring the safety and efficiency of the airline's facilities and equipment. This role involves a variety of technical and general maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining building components and machinery. Responsibilities • Troubleshoot, disassemble, clean, check, repair, rework, replace, fabricate, assemble, install, and adjust building components and plant equipment. , • Execute assignments requiring plumbing and millwright skills. , • Weld materials as needed for repairs and maintenance. , • Perform general building maintenance and construction work. , • Maintain locks and keys for facility access and security. , • Assist in storage, removal, and clean-up of hazardous waste. , • Ensure proper completion of forms, records, reports, and other paperwork. , • Request parts and clean work area after each shift. , • Perform Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walks and coordinate with vendors regarding technical questions. , • Explain work procedures to other personnel and escort vendors throughout airport property. , • Report to position on time and adhere to safety procedures and policies. Requirements • High School diploma or GED. , • Valid driver's license. , • Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand English or the local language. , • Minimum of 36 months journeyman experience in maintenance trades such as carpenter, electrician, HVAC, millwright, painter, plumber, or welder. , • Possess applicable state or city license. , • Willingness to work outdoors in any weather conditions. , • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays. , • Must pass FAA criminal background checks for airport access. , • Ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges. , • Successful completion of drug screening process.
