OCCUPATION: FLOORHAND General Description of Occupation: The Floorhand is part of the crew that works on a service rig and is responsible for servicing oil and gas wells. The duties of the Floorhand include assisting in rigging-up and rigging-down, running pipe and casing, and other functions specified by the customer or well operator. All duties are to be performed according to standard operating procedures in order to maximize the safety of all personnel at the work site and to most efficiently perform the task. The Floorhand may be required to work in the derricks or operate the rig if needed and qualified. Work schedule: Varies Number of days worked each week: Varies Total hours worked each week including breaks: Varies Time allowed for breaks and meals: No formal times established; breaks and meals are taken when appropriate and safe to do so. Essential Functions of Job: • Lift, operate, rig-up and down the components of the rig and other equipment used on the location • Required to position, lift, attach, install and work with casing, drill pipe and associated well equipment such as pumps, swivels, catwalks, etc • Operate tongs, elevators, and other related rig tools and equipment • Physically load and unload pipe or other materials without the use of tools or hoist equipment • Assists in rigging up and down, lining up the well service rig with the well • Sets hydraulic jacks, handles pads/boards and assists in attaching the guy wires to the anchor • Assists in picking up or laying down tubing, manually lifting the tubing from the rack onto the work floor or vice versa • Reports any safety hazards, accidents or maintenance issues to the rig supervisor • Ensures that work carried out is in compliance with company policies and procedures and according to safety regulations • Work on an elevated surface (tubing board) when needed • Performs other related duties as assigned Skills you’ll need: • Workover rig experience • Must have a "can do", customer services orientated approach • Ability to communicate both oral and written effectively • Must comply with all safety policies and procedures Licenses and Certifications Preferred: • Safeland/PEC • Valid driver license • CDL • Well Control School • H2S, Forklift/Manlift, and CPR/1st Aid • Any other heavy equipment licenses or certifications Physical Requirements of Job: Amount of each day spent: Standing: 50% Walking: 40% Sitting: 10% Employee works: Inside: 10% Outside: 90% While performing job, employee will be required: lifting/carrying (0-100lbs) 15 times/hour 8-10 hours/day pulling/pushing (0-75lbs) 15 times/hour 8-10 hours/day to squat 7 times/hour 8-10 hours/day to kneel 5 times/hour 8-10 hours/day to climb ladders/stairs 4 times/hour 8-10 hours/day Physical activity required: Lift under 10lbs Frequently Lift 10-25lbs Frequently Lift 25-50lbs Frequently Lift Over 100lbs Seldom Carry under 10lbs Frequently Carry 10-25lbs Frequently Carry 25-50lbs Frequently Carry Over 100lbs Seldom Reach above shoulder Frequently Reach at shoulder Frequently Reach below shoulder Frequently The working conditions may involve exposure to the following: chemicals gases cold heat dampness noise dust radiation heights (0-110’) fumes winds ice Other physical requirements: • Manual and finger dexterity • Hand/grip strength • Depth perception • Any other physical requirements that allow the employee to perform the job safely according to all company, local, state and federal regulations and requirements.
