Senior Project Accountant
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Project Accountant with experience in Deltek Ajera or other similar accounting and scheduling systems to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in professional services firms, preferably in architecture or interior design. This hybrid role (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) includes overseeing project financials, scheduling employees on various projects, managing budgets, and supporting monthly financial close processes.
Key Responsibilities:
? Project Financial Management:
? Set up and maintain project budgets and cost controls.
? Track project revenue and expenses to ensure accurate financial reporting.
? Review and approve project invoices in compliance with contract terms.
? Monitor project profitability and collaborate with project managers to resolve discrepancies.
? Billing and Invoicing:
? Prepare and submit client invoices based on contract terms (e.g., T&M, fixed-fee, percentage of completion).
? Ensure timely and accurate client billing in Deltek Ajera or other similar systems.
? Reconcile billings with project costs and ensure proper revenue recognition.
? Financial Reporting & Analysis:
? Provide regular financial updates and reports to project managers and leadership, including budget vs. actuals, work in progress, and cash flow forecasts.
? Assist in preparing weekly and monthly financial analyses.
? Support project-related inquiries.
? Employee Scheduling:
? Collaborate with project managers to schedule employees on different projects, ensuring optimal allocation of resources based on project requirements.
? Maintain up-to-date records of staff assignments and monitor resource availability.
? Cost Management:
? Track and manage project expenditures, ensuring alignment with approved budgets.
? Identify and report on potential financial risks or overruns.
? Collaborate with project managers to adjust budgets as needed.
? Deltek Ajera and Similar Systems Expertise:
? Maintain a deep understanding of Deltek Ajera or similar project accounting software.
? Ensure data integrity and accuracy through regular audits and reconciliations.
? Provide training and support to team members and project managers on system processes.
? Collaboration:
? Work closely with project managers, accounting, and finance teams to ensure smooth financial operations across all projects.
? Collaborate with external clients and internal teams to resolve any billing or financial concerns.
Qualifications:
? Experience:
? 5-10 years of accounting experience in a professional services environment, with a preference for architecture or interior design industries.
? Experience with Deltek Ajera or other similar project accounting software is preferred.
? Education:
? Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
? Skills and Abilities:
? Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
? Proficiency in project accounting, financial analysis, and budgeting.
? Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
? Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
