• Concept Generation: Rapidly generate diverse product solutions to business and brand challenges with a passionate user-centric mindset.
• Agile Exploration: Employ lean prototyping methods to rapidly demonstrate user experiences and accelerate team learning.
• Storytelling: Compose compelling narratives to communicate logical rationale for your design vision.
• Creative Communication: Develop renderings, mood boards, concept sketches and visual presentations. Utilize both digital and analog sketching skills to communicate ideas.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Design, Business, Technical, and Communication teams to balance complex requirements for successful launch.

Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design or equivalent (completed and verified prior to start)
• Three (3) years of experience working on cross-functional product development in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Design Skills: Strong visualization skills, refined sense of form, human factors understanding, and a passion for storytelling through design.
• Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with product manufacturing processes, including materials, finishes, and plastics.
• Proficient in SolidWorks, Keyshot, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, Teams. Familiar with remote collaboration and cloud-based workflows.

Work location:

• Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to St Paul, Minnesota at least 1 day per week)
