- Identify, lead and develop, or lead commercialization of major technical programs to create the next generation of product solutions for electrical vehicle architectures.
- Collaborate with global sales leaders to engage OEMs in the evolution of software-defined vehicle structures.
- Understand and negotiate customer and /or industry electrical and data system interfaces, performance requirements, and test-methods related to electrical, sensor, communications, and data systems.
- Develop, prioritize, and manage technology roadmaps aligned with industry and market trends.
- Lead product platform teams to identify and evaluate systems level product performance.
- Build requirements consensus, document concept decisions, and communicate documented results
- Facilitate concept evaluation leading to documented design decisions.
- Represent 3M developing industry automotive standards and influence key opinion leaders within regulation setting authorities.
- Provide automotive application thought leadership for both internal and external organizations.
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
- Five (5) years of experience in systems level understanding, contributing and leading the development of customer solutions associated with the automotive industry in a private, public, government or military environment
- Three (3) years of experience in application engineering or product development in an R&D role, focusing on defining, developing and implementing customer solutions.
- Masters of Science or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university
- Ten (10) years of experience in systems level understanding, leading the development of customer solutions associated with the automotive electrification industry.
- Five (5) years of experience leading high performing teams with strong interpersonal skills.
- Track record of scientific excellence demonstrated through publications/presentations.
- Strong customer engagement skills, including experience with requirements prioritization and program management.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Demonstrated experience working to develop standards and influencing regulation setting leaders.
- Experience coordinating with external research entities.
- Experience generating and managing intellectual property.
- Demonstrated experience with one or more Software Defined Vehicle features:
- System or software architecture definition
- System life cycle management
- Vehicle, subsystem, or sensor interface development
- Technology Integration
- Knowledgeable of vehicle interfaces related to:
- High speed wired / wireless
- EMI Shielding
- Interconnects
- Thermal Mgmt
- Power electronics
- Advanced Driver Assisted Systems (ADAS)
- Vehicle Infotainment systems
- Vehicle Personalization
- Autonomous Driving Systems
- Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 3 days per week)
