This role will improve the security, resiliency, and reliability of our backend end services to support Workday's continued growth. Our mission is to empower developers to solve the user experience problems of today and tomorrow.About the RoleThis role will support one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government which, due to federal government security requirements, mandates that all Workday personnel working on the contracts be United States citizens (naturalized or native).Role & Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize within the air-gapped U.S. cloud regions for our web application server. (AWS, GCP)
• Collaborate closely with our software development teams responsible for the UI platform and the features they deliver.
• Partner with the Workday Federal Cyber Defense team to ensure security operations, cybersecurity posture, governance, risk, compliance, and platform security health
• Collaborate across teams to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient solutions

About YouBasic Qualifications:5+ Experience in implementing and understanding Object-Oriented Programming and common design patterns (MVC, Inversion of Control, Event-driven systems)5+ years of coding experience with server-side development utilizing Java/Kotlin as the primary language and exposure to related technologies like Spring3+ years of experience of designing and leading features with strong focus on non-functional requirements (scalability, performance, security, maintenance, etc.)3+ years of leading technical initiatives within team or departmentExperience in technical mentorships, i.e. helping other engineers grow their skillsExperience driving cross-team dependencies and projectsOther Qualifications:Experience in designing and deploying modular and maintainable user interfaces leveraging component-based architecturesHands-on with testing, build automation, continuous deployments, and monitoring, in addition to design and implementation of large enterprise web applicationsDemonstrated ability to work on features involving multiple platforms / teamsTakes ownership to drive projects to completion and overcome roadblocks with positivity and creativityFamiliarity with the development challenges inherent with highly scalable and available web applicationsExperience on RESTful web service development is a plusStrong communication and interpersonal skillsSelf-motivator and a strong sense of ownershipAbility to balance urgency with shipping high-quality and pragmatic solutionWorkday Pay Transparency StatementThe annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below.
