The time commitment is approximately 10 hours of work each week from Monday, May 5, 2025 through August 21, 2025. This is an hourly paid position through CMU. Certification before they can begin working as a TA.Responsibilities:
- Assist the instructor in providing an effective learning experience for students enrolled in the course.
- Attend all class meetings for one section each week, for the full duration of the semester.
- Arrive 10 minutes before class starts and stay at the end of class to check in with the instructor before leaving.
- Track student attendance and engagement in class discussions.
- Manage course activity online in Canvas, including but not limited to supervising student submissions, helping to ensure appropriate structure, format, and best practices are followed in all submitted deliverables.
- Review student drafts and final assignments, providing actionable, constructive feedback, notes, scores, and corrections as appropriate.
- Assist the instructor in the creation of quizzes on readings and other topics to review.
- Hold office hours for 60 minutes per week to assist students as needed.
- Clarify instructions for assignments to students, as needed, through office hours or email, or via Canvas discussion forums.
- Meet with students and teams, as requested by the instructor, for the purpose of additional explanation and guidance on the assigned work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience using Miro (or similar graphic tool)
- Familiarity with standard online productivity tools
- Interest in teaching
