Engagement as a Sign Language Interpreter in an elementary school setting offers a unique opportunity to support diverse communication needs while fostering an inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities:
• Provide sign language interpretation for a 4th-grade student during instructional time and school activities.
• Facilitate effective communication between the student and teachers, as well as with peers.
• Translate educational materials and resources into sign language, ensuring comprehension.
• Attend IEP meetings and contribute to the development of individualized education plans.
• Adapt interpretation techniques to meet the varying needs of the student and the classroom setting.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Qualifications:
• Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter is required.
• Experience working with elementary school students, preferably in a 4th-grade setting.
• Strong understanding of developmental communication strategies for young learners.
• Ability to create a supportive and engaging atmosphere for the student.
