Job Summary:
The Bursar's Office of CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus supports the academic and administrative mission of the institution and is responsible for ensuring the effective and accurate administration of all student accounts receivable and student payments. The Bursar's Office is also responsible for processing departmental cash receipts and oversight of all federal and institutional loans including related reporting and collection activities.

This position will administer billing for the Bursar Office third party contracts by overseeing new and existing sponsored program agreements to determine billing requirements for entry into the PeopleSoft student accounts. This position also ensures that sponsorships received are properly applied in PeopleSoft by reconciling the accounts receivable and sponsor programs. Personnel in this position complete monthly and quarterly billing of contracts, mail invoices to sponsors, prepare accounts receivable aging reports and analyzes inconsistencies, conduct the reconciliation of accounts receivable to the general ledger in PeopleSoft, complete follow-up on past due accounts, and perform other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance & Accounting (55%)
• Provides analysis, technical expertise, problem identification and resolution related to third party assignment and billing on the integrated student information system database.
• Analyze, identify problems, and maintain third-party contracts and agreements.
• Support requests to set up sponsorship and help students or departments with questions.
• Administer agreements, billing, and authorization for the Bursar Office third party contracts by overseeing new and existing sponsored program agreements to determine technical requirements. Must run reports for sponsorships and process all sponsorships.
• Administer and reconcile student and sponsor accounts to make collection decisions regarding all domestic and international third-party accounts for the current term (Military and non-Military). Must maintain relationships with sponsors.
• Maintain knowledge of federal and state legislation, policies, procedures, and benefits to ensure compliance with regulation governing student third party benefits.
Customer Service (45%)
• This position will be the customer service contact for students, this includes answering emails, phone calls, and working with front line staff and sponsors on questions in billing; get students set up with third party contractors and ensure students do not have questions regarding third-party billing.
• Coordinate with internal departments such as Veterans and Military Student Services (VMSS) office, the Office of International Affairs, and any office that wants to set up third party contracts to ensure that students who are certified are assigned properly on their student accounts and the students are notified of any outstanding debts.
• Prepare third party contracts each term by notifying sponsors and students of the process and submitting documentation as necessary. This includes follow up, reminders, emails, calls and processing documents in OnBase.
Work Location:
This position is eligible for a hybrid of remote and on-campus working. The work schedule will be based around core working hours in Colorado Mountain Time.

Intermediate Level:
• A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems.
• Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/professional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
• At least 1 year of professional experience to include accounting, bookkeeping, budget management, student financial services/bursar, student accounts, financial aid or other related financial experience.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Senior Level:
• A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems.
• Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/professional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
• At least 2 years of professional experience to include accounting, bookkeeping, budget management, student financial services/bursar, student accounts, financial aid or other related financial experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience working at a higher education institution or State of Colorado Agency.
• Experienced working with a financial information system.
• Accounting or bookkeeping experience.

The starting hiring range for this position has been established as:
Intermediate Level: $46,007 - $58,521
