Job Summary
Online Instructors of Pharmacy Technician Science Interactive (SI) Programs are led by the Director of Academics, Vice President of Online Operations and/or the related Program Chair/Lead to provide quality delivery of assigned courses using curriculum provided by Ross. Online Instructors of the PhT (SI) program may use synchronous and asynchronous learning tools. Instructors are responsible for virtual classroom instruction, providing adequate meeting time with students, supporting multiple campuses and performing related work as required. Online Instructors collaborate with Student Success Advisors to achieve successful outcomes for students. Faculty should be highly knowledgeable about the subject matter for the specific course(s) they are assigned to teach and maintain expertise in the subject area.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Instruction
• Leads, manages and teaches students in the virtual classroom
• Utilizes contemporary teaching strategies and practices
• Meets or exceeds the following requirements: participates in threaded discussion three (3) days a week, grades all assignments within 48 hours, responds to student emails within 24 hours, and responds to administrative contact within 24 hours, interacts with at least 60% of the students in the threads
• Provides timely, detailed and individual feedback on all online assignments
• Communicates, supports, and enforces school policies and procedures
• Maintains a professional attitude and online presence at all times and follows Ross Code of Ethics and Faculty Code of Conduct
• Communicates with inter-disciplinary groups to support student success
• Provide pre-scheduled sessions for live Science Interactive demonstrations and Q&A with students
• Offer scheduled tutoring sessions in SI
• Do direct 1:1 student follow up on SSI lab scores/grades/attendance
• May mentor and collaborate with Teaching Assistants
Preparation
• Accurately records grades
• Works additional time, as needed, to meet individual student needs Be available in day/afternoon/evening time slots for easy student access to SI support
• Completes all new faculty training using the learning management system
• Attends formal and informal faculty/staff meetings
• Informs Student Success Advisors and Program Chair immediately of unsatisfactory academic student progress, discipline or attitude problems, and occurrences that warrant discussion.
• Collaborate with online PHT instructors and Student Success Advisors with information and student support
• Under direction of the Online leadership team and in conjunction with Student Success Advisors, provides additional support to students on “Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) warning.”
• Supports activities to increase student retention and graduate placement
• Completes a minimum of two professional growth (a.k.a., professional development) and two effective
• teaching training (formerly known as in-service training) activities each fiscal year
• Prior to each term’s start, reviews course content (including content hyperlinks), updates course announcements, home page and contact information, and sets up a welcome video and verify module due dates
• Keep current on SI updates and changes, and advise online instructors and program chairs as needed
• Creates and maintains the ABHES Faculty Data Sheet
• Participates in all required online faculty training, minimally at least annually and specific to the
• distance education pedagogy
• Enter timecard entries weekly
Performs related work as required

Requirements
Instructors must qualify as stated below.
Online PhT Science Interactive Instructors
• Graduation from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) in the specialty field or subject area in which they teach. Additionally, the faculty member possesses two (2) years of occupational (i.e., practical) experience in the subject field in which they teach; holds or is able to obtain within 90 days of start date of employment, a CPhT from PTCB or a CPT from NHA; and a current license, certification or other credential as required by local, state and/or federal laws to work in the field
OR
• A minimum of five (5) years of job-related experience*, as described above, for those instructors who are not graduates from an accredited program in the field in which they teach. Additionally, must hold a current license, Ross approved national certification or other credential as required by local, state and/or federal laws to work in the field and either a CPhT from PTCB or a CPT from NHA.
And all instructors must have:
• Sufficient visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, use telephone, read materials, use white board and use classroom equipment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. • Ability to communicate effectively in online classroom and individual settings
• Must have high-speed internet access through a device that supports learning management systems
• (LMS) and webcam or other device with video capability, and allows the instructor to communicate online with students and staff
• Knowledge of materials (subjects) that will be taught to students and ability to use and communicate
Ross curriculum
• Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced work environment
• Ability to use current technology to maintain student records, e.g., Microsoft Office, CampusVue
• Ability to achieve or maintain credential and/or licensure within expected time frames
• Demonstrates professionalism in manner and conduct as a representative of Ross and a student mentor
• Ability to remain objective and treat all students equally
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Adhere to Ross Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics
• Reasonable access provided to students by instructors relative to assignments, questions, tests and other class items. This requirement can be met by establishing weekly office hour/hours.
• Availability for day, afternoon or evening sessions, M-F
Preferred:
• Prior online teaching experience using a developed curriculum and using software such as Brightspace, Moodle, etc.
• Other Ross teaching experience or a Ross Graduate
• Science Interactive experience
Must reside in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky Iowa, Tennessee or West Virginia.
