Communications & Graphic Design Intern
About the position
Responsibilities
• Assist in drafting and editing content for internal and external communications materials.
• Contribute to the formulation and implementation of communication strategies and campaigns aimed at promoting DET's work and impact.
• Provide assistance with presentation formatting, visual storytelling, and participant materials.
• Provide design support across a range of print and digital products, including infographics, reports, presentation templates, and publications.
• Design visually compelling layouts and graphics for briefings, fact sheets, and knowledge products.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of DET's online resources, ensuring an engaging and user-friendly layout, look and feel.
• Support the team in knowledge-sharing initiatives, including preparing visuals and content for workshops, events, and knowledge exchanges.
• Assist in collecting and documenting best practices, case studies, and lessons learned, ensuring clear and visually appealing presentation.
• Maintain organized records of communications and design products, and assist with file management and archiving.
• Provide logistical and administrative support as required, including scheduling, note-taking, and document formatting.
• Carry out additional tasks as needed to support DET's communications and design efforts, in line with the implementation of the Strategy for Digital Transformation of UN Peacekeeping.
Requirements
• An academic background in Strategy Development, Innovation, IT, Engineering, Project Management, or Public Administration is beneficial.
• Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent) or have graduated with a university degree as defined above.
• Be computer literate in standard software applications.
• Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter.
• Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
Nice-to-haves
• Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
• Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
